The Ridiculous statement that endures: Poor George Zimmerman won’t get federal government protection?

I guess every high profile case defending crazy-whack-job-gun-toting-freaks, getting away with murder, needs government protection if they get death threats? Wasn't that the reason they gave for carrying guns-for protection. And aren't the resulting death threats the unintended consequence of their actions?

Aside from the fact that no one should be making death threats, if people want to avoid situations like this, they can simply stay away from extreme behavior.

Take this conservative contradiction about individualism and self-defense, when a right winger asks about “government help” for George Zimmerman. He really did:
The Hill: At the press briefing, Jay Carney was asked by Gabe Finger, an intern at The Daily Caller, about providing security to George Zimmerman and his family.

"Because of the death threats being received by George Zimmerman and his parents, is the president going to take any action for their security, or are they on their own?" Finger asked.

"Well, I think I would refer you to Florida authorities," Carney said.

"So they're on their own?" Finger said.

"You can editorialize all you want, and I have no doubt that you will, but that is a ridiculous statement," Carney said.
