Toure takes on Racism after shooting of Australian student.
To my conservative friend in Milwaukee and anyone else who might listen, here's the right response from MSNBC's Toure about the tragic shooting of Chris Lane:
I just read this stomach turning story below, that makes it official for me; guns are now simply another way to deal with everyday disagreements. You can argue, or you can just shoot your way to wing the debate. Guns were supposed to make us safer. Everyone was the next Lone Ranger:

jsonline: Three teenagers playing basketball were shot Monday evening after an argument with a resident on Milwaukee's south side, police said.
The three, boys ages 15, 16 and 17, were taken to a hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening ... the boys were playing basketball with others in the 1500 block of S. 26th St. when one of those playing got into an argument with a neighborhood resident. The resident left but returned about 6:30 p.m. and fired several shots from a handgun, according to the release.

The Ridiculous statement that endures: Poor George Zimmerman won’t get federal government protection?
I guess every high profile case defending crazy-whack-job-gun-toting-freaks, getting away with murder, needs government protection if they get death threats? Wasn't that the reason they gave for carrying guns-for protection. And aren't the resulting death threats the unintended consequence of their actions?
Aside from the fact that no one should be making death threats, if people want to avoid situations like this, they can simply stay away from extreme behavior.
Take this conservative contradiction about individualism and
self-defense, when a right winger asks about “government help” for George Zimmerman. He really
did:
The Hill: At the press briefing, Jay Carney was asked by Gabe Finger, an intern at The Daily Caller, about providing security to George Zimmerman and his family.
"Because of the death threats being received by George Zimmerman and his parents, is the president going to take any action for their security, or are they on their own?" Finger asked.
"Well, I think I would refer you to Florida authorities," Carney said.
"So they're on their own?" Finger said.
"You can editorialize all you want, and I have no doubt that you will, but that is a ridiculous statement," Carney said.

Stand Your Ground Killer hits gun nut Jackpot, gets $204,000 in donations from homicidal shoot first Zealots.
It took George Zimmerman to show the world what the U.S. has
become.
The unintended consequences of “stand your ground” laws and castle doctrines has turned America into something hideous.

CNN: George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer accused of wrongly killing Trayvon Martin, will not immediately have to turn over donations made to his website, a Florida judge said Friday. Zimmerman collected about $204,000 in donations through the website. (Zimmerman’s attorney’s) both said they are concerned about releasing the names of donors to Zimmerman … "My fear is they may well be targeted for reprisals or animosities or whatever."What do they have to fear, they’re already armed?

It's not the "Stand your Ground" law or the self appointed vigilante, but Trayvon Martin's Hoody.
The situation surrounding the Trayvon Martin tragedy in Florida is starting to become clearer now.
We had our own situation here in Wisconsin after a Slinger homeowner shot and killed a 20 year hiding on his porch. Bo Morrison had attended a the loud party next door. More here, and here. But this is about Trayvon Martin.
The story came together for me when Geraldo Rivera blamed Trayvon's hoody for the shooting. If you've ever shopped for your kids, hoody's are basically the only inside/outside top you could buy for the last two years. Because it dominates the racks now, to say it's a gang thing or something minorities wear, is bizarre, inaccurate and out of touch.
The commentary and the clips of the 911 calls I've included here, from the Ed Show and elsewhere, along with Obama's statement, tell just a part of the story.
Great coverage here too from Blogging Blue.
