Since winning elections on issues not possible, especially after Gov. Walker’s cuts to middle class, Republicans scheme to game election system

If you’ve noticed, the Republican Party is doing everything it can to game the electoral process, with voter ID and now recall election delay tactics.

The sad truth is conservatives are more interested in “WINNING” then they are about governing. I emphasized winning because that’s all you’ll ever get from talk radio callers, what you’ll read in letters to the editor, and what I’ve heard from my conservative gun toting friend in Milwaukee.  They only care about winning. So this bit of news should come as no surprise, even though it’s really a bad idea:

LaCrosseTribune: La Crosse County Republicans discussed running a spoiler candidate against Democrat Jennifer Shilling in an effort to delay the recall election of Sen. Dan Kapanke, according to a secret recording of the party's general membership meeting last week.

On the recording obtained by the Tribune, party vice chairman Julian Bradley says he just spoke with Mark Jefferson, executive director of the state GOP, and "we are actively keeping our ears to the ground and if anybody knows anybody for a candidate that would be interested on the Democratic side in running in the primary against Jennifer Shilling.... So if anybody knows any Democrats who would be interested, please let us know." That, Bradley said on the tape, "would give the state senator an extra month to campaign in. The opposition would obviously have to spend more time and more money."
Shilling, a five-term state representative from La Crosse, is the only candidate to declare her intention to run.

At the same meeting, Kapanke was recorded saying he was in trouble because of the large number of public employees in his district and that he hopes they "are sleeping" on election day, according to a tape obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Kapanke should have thought of representing his districts “large number of public employees,” ya’ think?

But here’s why it’s a bad idea:

University of Wisconsin-La Crosse political scientist Joe Heim, (said) a September election could be even less desirable … as there would be a larger student population in La Crosse more likely to vote Democrat.

Sounds so much like the way Republicans govern; by the seat of their reckless pants.

  1. how do we know that it was a democrat idea to say that the gop will run a spoiler to stir up the democrat base. the democrats are notorious for their projection because they can't win on the issues.

  2. Nice try, but flipping it only proves you have nothing to say.

Paranoia is big on the conservative gun toting side of our society.
