Jihadists love our lax gun laws.

While the "slippery slope" argument is never brought by Republicans when it comes to tax cuts for the wealthy or environmental and Wall Street deregulation, it used effectively to prevent life saving regulation of fire arms.

That leaves us with no sane reason to have any control in place. Is it any surprise that even this terrorist video preaching the ease jihadist will have buying guns in America is met with outright denial and hypocrisy. I guess we need easy access to guns to protect ourselves from terrorists with easy access to guns.

Media Matters: Gadahn's instructions come in the wake of Associated Press reporting that showed that more than 200 people with suspected terrorist ties bought guns legally in the United States last year. Following the AP report Representative Mike Quigley introduced an amendment to the Patriot Act that would give the Attorney General the authority to block gun sales to individuals on terror watch lists. The amendment was voted down (by Republicans)!!!
According to States United to Prevent Gun Violence: Gun rights groups responded to the video by focusing extensively on Gadahn's misstatement about the availability of "fully automatic assault rifles." Gun rights groups responded to the video by focusing extensively on Gadahn's misstatement about the availability of "fully automatic assault rifles."

When asked about the video, Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty said he was "not proposing new restrictions of firearms." Rep. Lamar Smith, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, said tightening gun laws to address the threat would be to surrender to terrorists at the expense of Americans' rights.

The NRA's response to the video was to chastise "gun ban groups" for promoting "whatever unrelated issues were already at the top of their agenda" and added these initiatives would have no effect anyway.
Still more:
Since a new law went into effect in Iowa changing the state from "may issue" to "shall issue" concealed weapons permits Johnson County Sheriff says that one in five people issued concealed carry permits have criminal records
Over 900 illegal guns will be shredded at a New Jersey recycling plant and the fragments melted down to cast a Peace Angel statue that will be placed at One Police Plaza in New York City. The statue is a project of Art of Peace Charitable Trust.

Massachusetts South Coast Today, Our View: Awash in Guns, supports even stronger gun laws in MA to help curb youth violence, noting that CDC figures show the five states with the toughest gun laws in the nation, NJ, MA, NY, CT, HI, rank the lowest, from 45th to 50th, in the nation in gun deaths per 100,000 people.

In Baltimore, Maryland's roughest city neighborhoods, the Safe Streets outreach program employs offenders who have turned peacekeepers to help calm the streets. The program is modeled on CeaseFire, a Chicago-based initiative to reduce gun violence.
