Who's Mark Demet and why was he forging recall signatures?

As much as I've tried to stay on top of this story, very little is written about the guy in Racine who's looking at 9 felony counts for faking the signatures of family and friends.

What was he trying to do and why? Isn't anybody curious?  Channel3000:

Mark Demet faces nine felony charges and 49 years in prison if convicted of tampering with recall petitions against Sen. Van Wangaard, R-Racine.

Investigators said the Racine man signed his mother's and several neighbors' names without permission on recall petitions.

  1. I suspect the reason the corporate media doesn't want to investigate this story is that it doesn't tell the story they want.

Dement's brother is a Tea Party activist and has referred to Mark as "My idiot brother", not "My idiot Democrat brother" or "My idiot liberal brother".

Shortly after the incident was reported a Tea Party blogger referred to it as a "family prank" gone wrong.

My suspicion is that Mark Dement is a few bricks shy or a full load and did something incredibly stupid, thinking he was helping the cause by showing how easy it was to turn in fraudulent signatures. I blame Charlie Sykes.

The truth may come out when he cuts a plea and sobs in court while explaining why he did what he did, unless the Judge is a Republican of course.

  2. Your impression is the one I'm generally getting. I've blogged pretty much that idea before, but at this point, I'm hesitant to expand on the idea. You put it well though.

    Thanks.

  3. Jason Adams has stated in an interview that Mark Demet has been a long-time and very vocal critic of Scot Walker. Adams is one of Demet's neighbors whose names were forged on the petition.

Demet's brother Jeff, whose name was also forged on the petition, is not a "Tea Party activist." The forgeries were originally detected and reported by Ken Brown who is a Tea Party activist.
