Gov. Jim Doyle caused the Great Recession!!?

I came across this letter to the Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, repeating the largely uncontested talking point Gov. Jim Doyle caused the Great Recession:

During the last term of the Jim Doyle-Mary Burke administration, more than 133,000 jobs were lost and only 10 percent of employers expressed faith in where Wisconsin was headed.

And the irresponsible media has allowed Scott Walker to exploit this amazingly transparent lie to this day.

So I did a little digging and found this overlooked horrific fact;Under Gov. Scott McCallum, we were attacked on Sept. 11, 2001. McCallum oversaw a sluggish economy and two unpaid for wars.

Thankfully, Democratic Governor Jim Doyle guided us into an era of job creation and year after year balanced budgets. And no further attacks occurred.

This job loss claim is driving me crazy.
