Over the last decade, it was hard to take seriously the conservative rhetoric that portrayed liberals as the enemy, appeasers, terrorist, antibusiness and out to destroy marriage. It was heated ridiculous stuff.
The shocking truth; they meant it. Democrats just recently joined the ranks of the second class citizen. Think about it; they’re trying desperately to “take their country back”... from us. So that's what they meant.
The government in Wisconsin is now solid red. Republicans like Ron Johnson now have this attitude that when they make a decision that is unpopular, it’s simply a “tough vote.”
First-term Republican senator Ron Johnson tells National Review Online “Are we going to reward elected officials who, after running on the idea that there is a problem with how government works, come in and make the hard choices and take the tough votes?”
It’s an attitude that pretty much makes any decision they make, the right one.
But Johnson sees the protests and public anger differently…
In Wisconsin, he says, he really hopes the answer to that question is “yes,” even after months of “intimidation like I’ve certainly never witnessed before in politics,” be it from Big Labor or progressive activists.
Political protesting is considered “intimidation” to Johnson, and not a sign of overreach or lack of moderation. This is how the corporate class sees us. How dare we have a “fit” in public.
“Instead of rewarding officials for making hard choices, in a fit of anger, we would show that we turn those politicians out immediately.”
For Ron Johnson, who apparently has never heard of public protesting, the message is clear. Shut up.
