So voters will have a choice between a Senator trying to help the unemployed in a jobs devastated area of state, Kenosha (Ryan’s territory, hmm), or a corporate attorney. I wonder who would be the best choice?
State Senator Bob Wirch (D-Kenosha) and State Representative Cory Mason (D-Racine) announced that they are introducing a bill that would remove the recently passed one week waiting period for unemployment insurance benefits. “A one-week waiting period might not seem long to some people, but for those living paycheckto-paycheck, a week with no income is devastating,” said Senator Wirch. “This money has a big impact on our communities. People receiving these benefits are using them – to pay rent, buy groceries, pay bills – spending them at our local businesses.” “Racine has one of the highest unemployment rates in the state. Rep. Mason noted“This bill removes a cruel provision that hurts laid-off workers just when they may need help most.
Are you sure Bob would stick around and vote for such a thing when motels in Springfield are offering great summer rates including a continental breakfast? Heh.
ReplyDeleteI know, you would have had the Dems allow a bill to be passed in 8 days or so without knowing what was in it, or debate it.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's good government? Ramrodding legislation through that effectively reversing years of labor rights. But authoritarian individuals "Nemo" are okay with that. A little on the hypocritical side, unless you want to take back the case for passing the affordable care act so quickly after nearly a century of trying?
