Why aren't we celebrating the quiet race that took place in La Crosse, putting one more Democrat in the state assembly, beating out a toxic Republican candidate. Toxic in that he was part of the GOP.
WTDY: Democrat Jill Billings has won election to a Wisconsin Assembly seat that was left vacant after last summer's recall elections. Billings defeated Republican David Drewes in a special election Tuesday in La Crosse. Unofficial results showed Billings won with 72 percent of the vote, compared with 28 percent for Drewes, with all precincts reporting. The election was necessary after former state Rep. Jennifer Shilling won election to the state Senate in August. She defeated Republican Sen. Dan Kapanke in the recall election.
