Think About this statement: AARP, the left leaning senior organization with “significant business in the insurance industry…misleads seniors about the Medicare debate.”

Is Paul Ryan’s Prosperity PAC on hallucinogens? Is the policy wonk stooping to partisan lying now? Yes to both questions.

Medicare is antithetical to those who support the private insurance industry. It bypasses insurers, covers high risk seniors and controls cost through its massive group buying power. AARP even voted against its best interests when it supported cuts to Medicare Advantage Plus and Medicare Part D, programs AARP made money on through private supplemental insurers.

So with that in mind, the following is pure Ryan partisan bloviating:
The Hill: Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-Wis.) political group went on the attack Monday against AARP, calling one of the most powerful lobbies a "left-leaning pressure group." Ryan's Prosperity PAC sought to push back on attacks by AARP … "Last week, AARP, a left-leaning pressure group with significant business interests in the insurance industry, launched a national ad campaign that intentionally misleads seniors about the Medicare debate," wrote Pat Shortridge, a senior adviser to Ryan's PAC, in an email to supporters.
Misleading like…death panels or pulling the plug on grandma? Misleading, like the openly conservative answer to AARP, 60 Plus and their support for Ryan’s plan? The picture below is a look at their home page. Is 60 Plus NOT a right-leaning pressure group with no interest in the private insurance industry? Of course not. (click picture to read)

60 Plus thanked each member who supported Ryan's plan to "save Medicare." AARP is actually acting against their own best interest selling supplemental insurance policies that would literally blossom under Ryan’s plan.

The Hill should have known better and pointed it out.
