Record Jobs Created Scott? Walker makes a...quiet correction.

So far, Gov. Scott Walker is talking about all the new jobs he’s created since he became governor, jobs actually created by the former governor. And though some jobs have been created because of the slow economic recovery, many jobs have left the state too. Will someone subtract those losses from the gains?

But a funny thing happened today. Walker bragged about his “open for business” campaign, except for this wrinkle that got little traction, until now:
Bizjournal: “New Wisconsin business filings on record pace” – that was the gist of a press release issued by Gov. Scott Walker Monday. But a snafu at the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development has the Walker administration doing an about-face.
Turns out, business filings aren’t on a record pace after all.
The original news release said new business filings jumped 25 percent in the first quarter of 2011 to more than 9,000, a record for the state. The release used the numbers as proof that Walker’s open-for-business strategy is working.
A few hours later, the governor’s office issued a second release saying the numbers didn’t add up.
“The new numbers do not reflect a significant uptick in new business formations,” the corrected release said.
The real numbers look like this: The number of new business filings was 8,756 in the first quarter of 2011, compared to 8,763 in 2010. A decrease of 7. It's not looking good for Walker after giving away the store to business.

Again, I’m hoping Walker takes into consideration all the jobs lost and outsourced.
