Republicans Push for Government control of Health Care; Virginia GOP Hypocrites require unnecessary test to end Pregnancy.

Forcing an involuntary exam on women would seem to run counter to Republican orthodoxy;  government health care and expensive unnecessary testing.

But when it plays into their ideology, isn't it funny how they always seem to come up with some nonsensical reason to make an exception?  Remember when they reduced the Earned Income Tax Credit because recipients were getting money back they "didn't earn," a welfare check that needed to be reduced. Yeah, that's the ticket.

The same is happening over abortion. Throwing out cost saving measures like unnecessary tests and treatments responsible for rising health care costs, Virginia Republicans want to force an unnecessary internal vaginal probe for women seeking an abortion. The nonsensical reason for not making it optional; "informed consent." Patients know the rules. Rachel Maddow is covering this incredibly draconian invasion of a woman's body:

Let's rewind to an earlier proposed amendment to this legislation, requiring a rectal exam for men dealing with erectile dysfunction:
To protest a bill that would require women to undergo an ultrasound before having an abortion, Virginia State Sen. Janet Howell (D-Fairfax) on Monday attached an amendment that would require men to have a rectal exam and a cardiac stress test before obtaining a prescription for erectile dysfunction medication.
