It's about removing the societal safety nets in the name of freedom and liberty for all.
If what Chris Matthews does here is done by other reporters and show hosts, there isn't a chance the tea party, conservative, libertarian, anti-government whack jobs will get anything but a smattering of votes. Governor candidate Rex Rammell would even do away with the national parks. It's a states rights thing, you know.
Think of it this way; You won't have to save up for retirement anymore because your children will spend their money supporting you in your old age. And your childrens children will spend their paychecks supporting their parents as well, and on and on! Bring back the poor houses...
