Walker Administration Caught in Voter Suppression Scheme!!! Voter ID a Ruse, Poll Tax.

If this doesn't scream voter suppression, I don't know what will. The League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, which plans to file suit over the Voter ID bill, is catching a lucky break on this debacle.

Keep in mind, the DMV is not allowed to tell customers the voter ID is free unless they ask. Come on, we're grown-ups here, let's call it what it is; voter suppression. As the story goes, WISC 3000 aired the story the night before, shown here, and was played audibly on WTDY's Sly in the Morning:

State employee Chris Larsen heard the story, and then sent this email:
"Do you know someone who votes that does not have a State ID that meets requirements to vote? Tell them they can go to the DMV/DOT and get a free ID card. However they must ask for the free ID. a memo was sent out by the 3rd in command of the DMV/DOT. The memo specifically told the employees at the DMV/DOT not to inform individuals that the ID’s are free. So if the individuals seeking to get the free ID does not ask for a free ID, they will have to pay for it!! "Just wanted everyone to be informed!! REMEMBER TO TELL ANYONE YOU KNOW!! ANYONE!! EVEN IF THEY DON’T NEED THE FREE ID, THEY MAY KNOW SOMEONE THAT DOES!! SO TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!"
He was fired a few hours later, and talked to Sly. Here's a short sample of that call:

Check out the full interview here, and the topic earlier that prompted Larsen to send the email.
Larsen said a supervisor told him when he was fired his use of email was inappropriate. He said he'd held the job since December as a limited-term employee.

Here's a picture of Sly's (black shirt) midday protest for Chris Larsen.

UPDATE Friday 9-9: Rep. Chris Taylor wrote this biting response:
This firing comes on the heels of news reports yesterday that DMV employees were instructed not provide information on free photo IDs to the public unless specifically asked.

“Not only am I outraged by the conduct of this administration, but I am confused that Republicans are firing state employees for providing factual information about a bill they all so strongly support,” said Representative Chris Taylor (D-Madison) who added “the department must immediately reinstate the fired employee.”
