Walker's Plan to take Mortgage Money Enrages Public.

I mentioned on the radio show this morning, and my final day filling for Sly in the Morning on 1670 WTDY, it seems unfair to have the governor to take money away those hardest hit by the mortgage crisis. Not only are families in desperate need of help, but local cities, villages and townships were hit hard by lower property tax values. Instead, Scott Walker wants a sizable chunk of cash for the general fund, just as the news came out his "balanced budget" is short $143 million bucks.

Like Sun Prairie's Stacy Ennis said in the opening of the clip below:
"That is horrific, that is what evil looks like."

I couldn't have said it better. Here's coverage from WKOW and WISC:

State officials will use about $26 million of its $140 million share of a national mortgage settlement to help plug a state budget hole.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen's office made the decision in consultation with Gov. Scott Walker.

Here's Ed Schultz with a great clip showing Scott Walker ripping Doyle for taking one time payments to fix budget holes, when it appears Walker's is doing the same thing with the mortgage settlement cash. Schultz is joined by Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and State Sen. Lena Taylor. Barrett isn't happy.

  2. In the UK the government is about to launch a 95% mortgage for new home buyers backed by an indemnity fund from tax payers money and house builders. The developers get their cash back after 7 years if no claims, what about the tax payer????

  3. Its the citizens right to have mortgage money, specially those who are in need particularly.. so the governor should look towards that and make a justified decision.
