Scott Walker’s cuts to education Closes Schools on Bubble, with Declining Enrollment.

In the old days families made home buying decisions based on their job and school district. Not anymore.

School districts could care less, despite opposition by the voters they’re supposed to represent. Budgets are getting tighter thanks to the brutal budgeting policies of the Walker administration. Scott Walker cut more from education than any other state, and the results; declining enrollment, needless school closings, and declining teaching jobs. What could be better for an economic recovery?

It doesn’t take a genius to know that great neighborhood schools helped raise property values and home prices. It was a families nest egg. That’s gone now. Try selling your home when the nearest school is an hour or more away.

This is the new Republican Wisconsin, a low tax corporate playground that no longer has the social responsibility to educate or set up the next generation.

When you see a great looking school like the one pictured here, Maple Grove Elementary in the town of Hamburg, with kids and neighborhood families that know each other well, it’s hard to imagine shutting it down for a long bus ride to a building somewhere else far, far away.

Wausau Daily Herald: Merrill Area Public Schools will consider closing its two rural elementary schools as part of a budget-cutting proposal. Closing Pine River and Maple Grove elementary schools would save the district about $263,000, said Bruce Anderson, interim superintendent. Anderson said the district now has a "structural deficit" caused by decreased state funding tied to declining student enrollment in the district.

Thank you Scott Walker. Hey, it’s just a big building. Maybe when they force these closings, they can organize a school burning and get rid of the public eye sore and sad reminder of days gone by.
David and Stevie said closing the school would be "a major disruption" for the family, and likely would force Cole to take a one-hour bus ride to one of the district's other elementary schools. Cole's bus ride to Maple Grove now is four miles.

But school districts now have the “tools.”
Other budget reductions include cutting the boys hockey program, saving $35,000; increasing health insurance deductibles for district employees, saving $75,000.
Yes, the never ending "make the teachers pay more for their benefits" tools.
