WITI Fox 6 in Milwaukee can’t be this clueless. Groups with names that wreak of faux ultra-patriotism, like “Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty” or “We the People of the Republic,” are dead giveaways that they are partisan advocates of far right lunacy. Who uses the Gadsden flag?
So surprise of surprises, a Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty investigation has discovered irregularities with same day registration. Who would have guessed? In what would be another attempt to suppress the people’s right to vote, Fox 6 blissfully printed up their incredibly partisan "findings."
But according to Fox 6, they’re nonpartisan. But a simple check of their website would tell you otherwise (with my added red flags):
Wisconsin GrandSons of Liberty are concerned about (red flag 1) protecting the integrity of the recall elections! We are working on a project to (red flag 2) verify the validity of every signature on the recall petitions. We have partnered with We The People Of The Republic from Dane County on this project. (red flag 3) Many other Tea Party and conservative groups from around the state will be joining us in this important effort.
And a check of the “nonpartisan” We the People of the Republic” website (I’m getting nauseous) clearly admits they are also nonpartisan, serving thousands of “Tea Party” groups. Would I kid you?
We the People of the Republic is a non-partisan, grassroots coalition based in Dane County, Wisconsin. We proudly (red flag 4) serve as one of thousands of so-called "Tea Party" groups in America.
Thank you Fox 6 for copy and pasting this wacky groups own “nonpartisan” claim and voter suppression investigation. Many of the problems they note here involved sloppy work by poll workers, and not an attempt by citizens to commit fraud. After a number of major caveats, they came up with this:
The Wisconsin GrandSons Liberty Study found that one third of the 11,107 Same Day Voter Registrations from the Milwaukee County April 5, 2011 election contained errors. The errors ranged from failing to check the block indicating the voter was a "New Voter" or something more serious like failing to certify that the voter was a "qualified elector". Some forms had missing signatures and lacked "proof of residency" information.
The following conclusion threw up one big red flag for me, as it should have for Fox 6:
"We discovered 3,739 forms with errors. That 33.7% error rate is high enough to (red flag) question the entire election process and raises doubts about having the accuracy and accountability required to properly manage elections." says Communications Director Larry Gamble. "However, this report highlights enough errors to demonstrate how anyone wanting to vote fraudulently apparently could do so with ease."
And this:
This Election Day Registrations study shows that about 94 percent of the voters possessed a driver’s license or a state ID. This singular statistic cast a long shadow of doubt over most claims that identity requirements for voting discourages any students, seniors, minorities or even poor voters from voting.
So canceling out 6 percent of all voters without an ID wouldn't swing a close election? They held a press conference at 11 am this morning. I’m wondering just who showed up for this side show attack on our guaranteed right to vote.
The Gadsen Flag has become the Jolly Roger for numbskulls.
