Student ID's now IN Voter ID bill.

It's a big time voter ID change, two actually, in the proposed bill speeding through the Republican legislature that's gets my big thumbs up, especially when you consider this whole exercise as a solution looking for a problem;

jsonline: Assembly Republicans have tweaked a bill requiring voters to show identification at the polls to allow some college IDs -- a move that could blunt some criticism of the bill.
They have also decided to continue to allow people to vote absentee for any reason.

  1. Devil is the details... in that University ID card would require address plus other info similar to a WI drivers license...THAT NONE OF THE CURRENT UNIVERSITY ID CARDS HAVE. Therefore..this new chg would still disenfranchise 100% of the students.
    GOP trickery AGAIN & AGAIN & AGAIN
    So nothing new.
    Best Option is do nothing as current system is working just fine. GOP revised Bill is still a SOLUTION looking for a nonexistent problem!!

  2. The current student card would have to include the address, true, but keep in mind that this is a done deal for however long it's going to take to overturn it with the next gutless Democratic majority. We can only make a bad situation better, that's all.

    The University's across the state can make the changes needed. Voter ID is going to happen, unless the Senate changes hands. We'll see.
