FDLReporter: A former state senator from Fond du Lac allegedly lied to police about drunken driving and then claimed he did nothing illegal while he sat in the back seat of a squad car Sunday on the way to jail. Hopper is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 7 on counts of a first-offense drunken driving and operating left of the center line. The potential fines for both citations total $1,030.60. The 18-year-old daughter of the complainant said Hopper almost got into a head-on crash with a blue Mazda near Bud’s Landscaping on Highway 151 in the town of Taycheedah, according to her written statement.
