Republican Sen. Scott Fitzgerald okay with "law-abiding citizens" carrying guns in Capitol.

I’m fascinated by the following story. Here we have a frightened Republican legislature hiding from students, teachers, firefighters and cops but are also okay with allowing guns in the Capitol building.

Perhaps they’re counting on their “Second Amendment remedies” crowd to take care of Democratic enemies threatening freedom and liberty in Wisconsin, since they have nothing to worry about from the peace loving liberal contingent.

I’m actually not kidding.
WTAQ: The majority leader of the Wisconsin Senate says he would let law-abiding citizens carry concealed weapons in the State Capitol. If they’re banned, Republican Scott Fitzgerald says the entrances should have metal detectors to make sure guns stay out. Fitzgerald says metal detectors would not be needed if hidden weapons were allowed. Fitzgerald made his comments a day after state Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen said he would favor allowing concealed weapons in the Capitol, once the new law for hidden heat takes effect November first. Governor Scott Walker’s administration department will have the final say. A spokeswoman says a decision will be announced before the law takes effect.

  1. I'm confused. Why would legislators and lobbyists need to carry guns into the capitol? Why do general citizenry feel it necessary? Crime reporting is so blown out of proportion--when is the last time anyone reading this really needed a gun to defend themselves?

Oh wait, I take it all back. Women definitely need concealed carry to blow away irritatingly arrogant men. Better hope concealed carry permits aren't issued when PMS is a factor...
