What’s the free market doing about job training? They’re asking for Government Help!!!?

Isn't it time to bury the old Republican talking point, “government doesn't create jobs, the private sectors does?” Democrats, are you listening?

It’s about time government policy and taxpayer dollars were invested in job creation. Every other industrialized country is doing it. It’s just that the following right wing business entities still don’t seem to get it. Jim Wood of Be Bold 2 got it right when he tied taxpayer funding to matching private funds:
jsonline-Rick Barrett: A new $100 million taxpayer-funded effort could address the workforce skills gap in Wisconsin through training programs and other initiatives, a group of high-profile business and civic leaders said Tuesday after a yearlong review of what they say has become a crisis. “The data indicates that, unless we act now, over the next decade Wisconsin will be confronting major shortages in skill clusters essential to staffing the state’s major industries,” the Competitive Wisconsin report notes.

Jim Wood, a member of Competitive Wisconsin’s “Be Bold 2” executive committee  recommends limiting the use of the fund to making matching grants to businesses, educational institutions, workforce investment boards, regional economic development organizations and others with a specific strategy to address a documented talent need.
