Hudson Residents Turn out En-Masse to protest Gov. Walker's Attack on Working Families.

Hudson Wisconsin is becoming another flashpoint area of the state opposing Gov. Scott Walker’s dictatorial takeover of our workplace rights and government.
KARE 11: "Shame," chanted protesters from across the street as Walker walked from his car into Empire Bucket, a heavy equipment manufacturer in Hudson.

Inside, Walker told plant workers that public employees must swallow the same medicine as the private sector.
"Whether it was at Harley Davidson, Mercury Marine -- other companies across the board have had to make sacrifices, the employees have made sacrifices to protect jobs, we're doing exactly the same thing," said Walker after the meeting.
Isn’t it odd to see fiscal conservatives so willing to give up their wages and benefits in the work place, the whole lot of penny pinching tightwads, instead of asking why they’re constantly losing economic ground decade after decade? As their lives get more miserable and job security, wages and benefits disappear, instead of fighting an oppressive business model, they support policies that would drag everyone down to their level. For a party that wants to keep all their hard earned money, they’re sure anxious to take away the hard earned income of others, just so we can all “sacrifice” together.

What kind of society is that? Many aren’t so self-destructive, and are demanding a recall of their corporate oppressors:
But out on the street in front of the factory, school employee Mary Johnson of Hudson wants a recall.   "That's where we're going, that's the movement now and that's the hope," she said as she stood with a couple hundred demonstrators.
Nearby a smaller group of Walker supporters staged a quieter counter-rally.   "You know somebody has to lead," said Bob Henderson.  "This is a trend I think we're going to continue to see throughout the country."
Walker avoided the bulk of the demonstrators on his way out of the factory by leaving through a side door.
Isn’t it funny how those who “got theirs” from families of union members now want to prevent others from benefiting from those same protections?
Joseph Pertz - grandson of an Iron Range union organizer and owner of empire bucket -- lives in Minnesota but supports Walker's efforts in Wisconsin. Noting Wisconsin's budget deficit, he said, "Something had to be done."
