We're still amazed by the whole contraceptive wedge issue attack on women.

Very few pundits have put the Republican wedge issue of contraception so succinctly. Ruth Conniff passionately and honestly says what so many in the country are thinking. Why can't our politicians be just as fearlessly driven? Check it out.

  1. Really? Because what amazes me is how the Male Blogging Community of WI continues to pretend to disapprove of the "War on Women" while persisting in promoting/featuring Kathleen Vinehout as a viable candidate that is fit to represent WI women and families in Madison. And it's not like they don't know. Locals who have had contact/exposure to Vinehout's reactionary pope-obeying beliefs and backstabbing behavior who try to "speak out" are roundly ignored, as are members of the Planned parenthood organization and as are statement, op ed,s and press releases from NARAL.
Yet you have the sack to keep writing these pseudo-sympathetic "War on Women "headlines". Women who are paying close attention to these issues are not impressed nor fooled by prominent Democrat males lip-service to supporting basic rights. We know Vinehout was fast-tracked by the Doyle administration but we do not know why you are choosing to persist in supporting this kind of person within the party who CLAIMS to stand with women. And also a part who CLAIMS to be anti-school voucher. This leaves WI women the only option of going around trying to spread the truth by word-of-mouth and in press releases that if lucky 15 people will read. Which we will do, the stakes are high, we know the truth and will not be silenced, but we also know full well it is not a serious defense against official group support for Vinehout by the various party units. As it is now the (largely) male Democrat establishment does not really stand up for women other than in phoney headlines that mean nothing.

  2. You know Vinehout was a Doyle fast track? Prove it.

I appreciate your anger and confrontational activism. I hope you'll keep it up.

I talked with NARAL and they indicated that they may have been a little hyperbolic.

That said, I interviewed Vinehout about the NARAL press releases, and I wasn't unhappy with her answers. But at the same time, I didn't have a deep understanding of the earlier clash with NARAL. It's up to NARAL to stop whining and get Vinehout on the record to either clear her name, or make their case again.

This scorched earth self destructive attitude is the main reason why liberals, progressives and Democrats can't take a strong stand on anything.

Write NARAL and ask them to get some answers from Vinehout, who at this point, isn't getting any traction.

This blog will always take a strongly feminist position. As for public education, I will never let up until privatization, charter and vouchers are dead and buried. Or as they do in Europe with a national curriculum and test along with a national voucher. Which is highly unlikely, because its not about education here, but privatization and profit.

Thanks for the detailed and well written comment. It's good to know how some view this blog, right or wrong.
