It's been a highly successful tool to contort and compromise the political debate for way too long. Republicans get to have it both ways, and take the most convenient position when they're backed into a corner.
Below, the king of simpleton appeal in Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin, WTMJ radio's Charlie Sykes, describes perfectly the Republican political play book that for years has been promoting chaos, confusion and fear. Only this time he stretches credulity by trying to replace the touchy-feely, tree hugging, we are the world, peace loving, anti-war, latte drinking liberal with a thuggish mob out to create chaos.
Again, they like having it both ways, blissfully contradicting their own liberal stereotype to make a point. The "chaos and mayhem" Sykes describes here resulted in no arrests in a crowd of 100,000 people, no signs promoting seceding from the union, not one person demanding an armed revolt against the government, no tri-quarter hats and garb...etc. WTDY's Sly in the Morning had the audio clip;
