Gov. Walker spends even more state taxpayer money on rail after turning down fed dollars. Told you it was a dumb idea!!

So far, Gov. Walker is already planning on throwing over $25 million of Wisconsin taxpayer money at rail related projects. Money we didn't have to spend!!!! Much of it was included with the high speed rail project. The whole story is here
Dailyreporter: Gov. Scott Walker has announced 11 state awards totaling $25,515,123 that will be used to build freight rail-related facilities, and preserve and upgrade rail infrastructure.
Now, add to it, $30 million for the Madison to Reedsburg line that would have been included with the high speed rail deal Walker turned down.
The state is considering spending about $30 million to buy a freight rail line connecting Reedsburg and Madison. The DOT negotiated with Union Pacific Railroad in November to purchase track in Madison needed for a proposed passenger rail line to Milwaukee … estimated the purchase price to be more than $30 million.
Union Pacific wanted to sell all its remaining track in the Madison area as part of the deal … The deal fell apart after Gov. Scott Walker signaled his intention to stop the rail project, and the $810 million in federal money went to passenger rail projects in other states.
Now the DOT is considering purchasing the same track with state money.
Another example of Republican economic incompetence, and another big thank you low information voters. These guys caused the Great Recession, remember?
