Republicans Representatives Shout VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. Another Edition of "Really Bad Theatre"

When you fight a war for oil and fight all attempts to conserve because it would be too coslty, the least the Republicans could do is show boat a little, at least five hours after the chamber adjourned. Moments after the House has turned off its mics and dimmed the lights, Republicans began to shout VOTE, VOTE, VOTE. They smelled blood in the water, actually oil in this case, and they wanted to drill and enrich big oil before they lose their government jobs for good. Listen to this classic bit of overreaching, overacting and cheap theatre, all for the benefit and reinforcement of fear gripping 6o percent of the American public.

Rep. Kevin Brady of Texas, raced back off the plane and received a standing ovation when he entered the floor of the House. "I wanted to be a part of it. We should not be going home with gas prices this high."

That's kind of funny, because anything done now wouldn't effect the gas prices for another 7 to 10 years. Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe the Republicans shouldn't go home ever until they admit the current problem is of their own making. But I'm sure the press will highlight that discrepancy, right? Sure.

Poor Rep. Ted Poe of Texas (isn't it crazy, another Texas Republican) simply wanted a vote on domestic drilling, you know, a little something for the oil companies. "All the speakers spoke with passion; We spoke with extemporaneously. It was democracy at its finest moment. To me the issue is bigger than energy. It's about freedom of speech." This would be laughable if it weren't for all the other "free speech" moments denied the Democrats when the Republicans majority did the exact same thing, or doesn't that count now? Maybe no one remembers the 10 years prior to the 2006 election?

By the way, I noticed during the cable network coverage during the house debate on drilling that reporters asked Republican's, not Democrats, for their take on solving the problem of high gas prices. In fact, over the last two years, has anyone noticed we had a Demoratic majority?

It seems that those most opposed to government, and the ones who have the most to gain by destroying it, are the ones the media first runs to get another take on how ineffective government is right now. How easy it that to predict?
