You know the old saying, “I know you are but what am I.?” In advertising, this technique is known as “branding,” which is defining your opponent first with your own greatest weakness. Is Barack Obama an elitist? Now he is, because he has been labeled one by the McCain Campaign, and the message has been repeated so many times in the conservative media (radio mostly, and cable news) that it’s now thought to be true.
