It all started out innocent enough, when Stephen Colbert defended mayonnaise from an aggressive Miracle Whip ad campaign assault.
Miracle Whip answered Colbert, by name in the ad, chiding him to switch to the other side and inviting him to the fun Miracle Whip roof top of water balloons and dancing. An imaginative, smart response.
I disagree with you on the imaginative, but yes, it is a smart response.
