Abuse Of Power Investigation Unfair to VP Palin? Should Have thought of that Sooner

Without a word from the VP candidate, the McCain campaign has decided it’s time to make the public even more sympathetic to Gov. Palin, and gather support against an investigation into charges that she abused her gubernatorial power.

Again, lacking any substance or position on the important issues of the day, there is an attempt by the McCain campaign to portray this savvy politician as a defenseless victim of her gender.

If Gov. Palin had truly been vetted, the current investigation would surely have been an issue, unless they thought they could turn public opinion around. Let the games begin:

AP: Republican lawmaker Rep. John Coghill wants Democratic state Sen. Hollis French, who’s overseeing an investigation into Gov. Sarah Palin's dismissal of her public safety commissioner, removed because he seems intent on damaging her vice presidential candidacy. Coghill said Sen. French "appears to be steering the direction of the investigation, its conclusion and its timing in a manner that will have maximum partisan political impact on the national and state elections."

That begs the question: If Palin were found guilty of abuse of power, why wouldn’t we want the voters to consider that issue before they cast their vote? Conversely, do the Republicans want the timing of the investigations conclusions to have little impact, for partisan reasons, in the presidential election? Republicans seem to forget their arguments are always at the end of a double edged sword. So how unfair is the “timed” end of the investigation?

The investigation previously was expected to end on Oct. 31, five days before the Nov. 4 election. The new target date to complete the report is Oct. 10.

Wow, a whole 21 days. Stretching credulity, “Coghill said he was not approached by the McCain-Palin campaign to draft the letter, but that he called the campaign to "apprise" them of the letter. "I'm on my own in this one."

It’s not only an insult to our intelligence, but they must think we’re complete dupes to believe Coghill’s contacts with McCain were just a heads up call of notice.

When will Democrats stop playing nice? Every time they do, they get s**t for it. Take for instance their decision not to subpoena the governor in the probe as evidence the investigation was not politicized. Guess they forgot to pass out the brownie points for that one.

The Republicans are a take no prisoners party of hucksters and carnival barkers. They want us all to be stuck in an endless cycle of Republicans corrupting government, then cleaning it up, coming back to corrupt it again, then promising to clean that up…etc.
