McCain/Palin Desperate Now, Takes Mad Dog approach and Attacks Obama as Pal of Terrorists

If you thought McCain was in the gutter before, take a look at what’s coming. We might be witnessing the end of America’s legitimate political process of campaigning, as the Republicans take down another pillar of representative government, replacing it with trail of slime and anger.

According to the Washington Post:

Palin Says Obama pals around with terrorists

At a fundraiser in Englewood, Colo., Sarah Palin cited an article in today's New York Times as evidence that Obama "sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country." The Alaska governor was referring to William Ayers, one of the founding members of the Weathermen … Obama has denounced Ayers' involvement in the group.

"These are the same guys who think patriotism is paying higher taxes. This is not a man who sees America as you and I do -- as the greatest force for good in the world. This is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to pal around with terrorists who targeted their own country. This, ladies and gentlemen, has nothing to do with the kind of change anyone can believe in -- not my kids and not your kids."

In fact, both a Washington Post article in April and today's New York Times piece revealed Obama and Ayers to have had only a casual association.

Palin's comments come as the McCain (campaign) are rolling out a series of negative attacks against Obama in an effort to make up some of the political ground McCain has lost in recent weeks.

"Governor Palin's comments, while offensive, are not surprising, given the McCain campaign's statement this morning that they would be launching Swiftboat-like attacks in hopes of deflecting attention from the nation's economic ills," said Obama-Biden spokesman Hari Sevugan in a statement. “What's clear is that John McCain and Sarah Palin would rather spend their time tearing down Barack Obama than laying out a plan to build up our economy."
