McCain says It's Obama's Fault Joe the Plumber is Getting so Much Critical Attention

You can't make this stuff up. Now John McCain is complaining about all the attention Joe the Plumber is getting because some of it isn't good. If memory serves me right, I believe McCain is the one who brought up, and repeated over and over, Joe the Plumber during the final presidential debate. You would never have known that by McCain's recent comments, as reported by the Washington Post:

Speaking to a boisterous crowd at Florida International University ... McCain blames his opponent, Barack Obama.

"He didn't ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. He wasn't recruited or prompted by our campaign. He just asked a question. And Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks."

Press reports focused on Wurzelbacher's story for the past 48 hours have included mention of his lack of a plumbing license, and a tax lien.

Those were press reports, not the Obama campaign, that came up with a more realistic picture of Joe the Plumber.
