Trump's Enemy the News Media...then we're talking about an authoritarian state. "This is regime change."

From the early iterations of the Trump campaign, the press was always the enemy, the liars filtering Trump's message to deceive and destroy.

With the help of conservative online news rag Breitbart, Steve Bannon, and a resentful base of emotional basket cases, the established news media is about to lose its relevancy.

In a few last gasps, CNN and Fox News tried and failed to even get even a passing nod of sympathy. The video clip below features Chris Wallace calling out Reince Priebus, who after whining about anonymous sources, used of an anonymous source in an answer. But that was different? Wallace doesn't let up for second:

Yale University History Professor Timothy Snyder wrote a great piece on Trump and Steve Bannon. The following is just a short relevant passage that relates to "the media is the enemy of the American people.":
In an interview with German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, Yale University history professor Timothy Snyder said the threat posed by President Donald Trump means “we have at most a year to defend the Republic” and highlighted the role chief strategist Stephen Bannon is playing in that threat.

In addition, Snyder explains that Bannon’s use of the term “opposition” when describing the media is an indicator of talk about an “authoritarian state” because it suggests some type of regime change. When you say that the press is the opposition, than you are advocating a regime change in the United States. When I am a Republican and say the Democrats are the opposition, we talk about our system. If I say the government is one party and the press is the opposition, then I talk about an authoritarian state. This is regime change.

Time Lord Reince Priebus called Pence winner before debate....

Republicans are not only running on a phony list of scandals and imagined lawlessness by the Democrats and Hillary Clinton, they're also just as full-of-it about their criticisms of the presidential and vice presidential debates. It's a world where nothing is real anymore.

This was the funniest misstep yet by Wisconsin's embarrassing chairman of the RNC, Reince Priebus:

One pundit, after hearing the news, said that RNC declaration took away some of the anticipated excitement out of the VP debate. Even with the awesome ability to time travel, Republicans still can't stop stumbling around:
A blog posted on the party's website, which was presumably set to publish once the debate was over, declared that "the consensus was clear after the dust settled, Mike Pence was the clear winner of the debate." It went on to say that the Indiana governor "made the most of his opportunity to debate Hillary's VP pick Tim Kaine." Pence, the blog declared confidently, "perfectly shared Trump’s vision to make America great again and that message is resonating with Americans all across the country."

Reince dreams up word salad twist on Trumps Muslim Ban.

Wisconsin's own embarrassing RNC Chair Reince Priebus must have spent hours constructing just the right wording that obscures Trump's outright ban of Muslims coming into the U.S..
Reince: "A temporary ban on countries that harbor and train terrorists, until we get a better vetting system...that's really where 75% of the people are at...it is not a religious test...that's what I believe in, and that's what 80% of the American people believe in..."
...from Muslim countries? What this odd freak of nature came up with is classic Reince. Notice how Reince up the percentage of Americans who supposedly "agree" with the ban. Heck, I think I was just included. From the theater of the absurd...take it away Jake Tapper:
Trump recently indicated a change––only Muslims from terror states––but his team indicated there was never any pivot. Jake Tapper challenged him as that being just his “interpretation.”
Reince's anecdotal response....
"It's what I've seen him say in person, at events..."

Republican move to punish and censor the opposition is catching on!

The no compromise juvenile bullying by the Tea Party Republicans is oddly gaining acceptance. That can't be good.

These dominant authoritarians are now targeting for removal once and for all, the press, the constitutionally protected Fourth Estate. Cafeteria constitutionalist like only parts of the First Amendment.

RNC Blackmail gets NBC Approval: NBC responded to RNC chair Reince Priebus’ suspension of network debates with this acquiescence. Instead of being insulted and telling him to take his threats elsewhere...:
NBC News called the RNC's decision "disappointing. However, along with our debate broadcast partners at Telemundo we will work in good faith to resolve this matter with the Republican Party."
Going after Reporters: Republicans aren’t stopping there either, taking note of this emerging story of phony outrage:
In the wake of the debate debacle that’s delivered a gut punch to CNBC, many staffers at the business network are divided over whether “extremely biased” and “far left” correspondent and moderator John Harwood should have been allowed on stage. Harwood is “not just extremely biased and partisan, but he’s the worst kind who isn’t self-aware that he is,” the insider continued. “Blindness to that is what allowed him on the debate stage.”
What we found out was Fox News asked similar, more insulting questions but got no blowback. Here's just one example. Washington Post:
And there’s no better example of the moderators looking to pit one Republican against another Republican than this one: “Mr. Trump, it has not escaped anybody’s notice that you say that the Mexican government, the Mexican government is sending criminals — rapists, drug dealers, across the border. Gov. Bush has called those remarks, quote, ‘extraordinarily ugly,’ I’d like you — you’re right next to him — tell us — talk to him directly and say how you respond to that…Why not use this…debate to share your proof with the American people?”

That example of malicious, divisive debate moderation comes from the Aug. 6 clash at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, which was hosted by Fox News and was greeted as a universal success. It’s not from last night’s Republican debate in Boulder, Colo., which was hosted by CNBC to nearly unanimous negative reviews.
For now, CNBC is publically defending Harwood against these attacks:
CNBC defended Harwood to TheWrap, saying he should be “applauded.” “Journalists who ask Presidential candidates substantive, challenging questions on interest rates, social security, the debt limit, student loans and taxes to name a few, should be applauded.”

Remember when Republicans wanted former CNN reporter and host Candy Crowley fired for correcting Mitt Rommey, when he said Obama didn't say the Benghazi attack was an act of terrorism for two weeks, when he actually did the first day?

Or how about the media black out by tea party candidates who tried to hide their lack of ideas and lunatic agenda by vilifying the media, and then going out instead to overtly friendly conservative talk radio and television outlets?

RNC's attack on Hillary to focus on the letter "H" You won't believe what they have planned for "C"

RNC Chair Reince Priebus has rediscovered the alphabet, and the 8th letter! He also plans to exploit its multiple uses against Hillary Clinton, whether it makes sense or not.

As you can see by the mob of similarly dressed Borg like GOP supporters, Hillary's symbolized “H” is the first letter of a lot of words…including hypocrite.

Because “hypocrite” is synonymous with the word Republican, it makes sense to try and rebrand it in time for the election. Yes, it’s all about marketing. And that's what Wisconsin embarrassment and huckster Priebus is all about.

Is Hillary really a renowned hypocrite?  Has she taken hypocrisy to such an extreme level that the RNC would print signs and organize photo op protests (remember, Republicans don’t protest) to get the message out?

Reince did offer one example of hypocrisy that will leave you scratching your head:
Staged much? A few lawbreakers crossed the
police tape barrier...
Hillary’s hypocrisy is unparalleled. Clinton has sent mixed signals, explicitly contradicted herself … On the economy, Clinton declared: “Don’t let anybody tell you that it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs.” But at campaign events she said she wants to be a “champion” for small businesses.
Ouch...but still not hypocritical. Hey it’s a word, a bad sounding word too.  Plus it’s a nice way to divert attention away from the idea that consumers drive the economy and job creation, not business. And small businesses can’t survive without first, consumers earning a decent wage, and second businesses having access to startup funding.

Hypocrisy…I don’t think so. But the alphabet campaign, starting with “H,” is so…so simple to understand.

The RNC lists issue after issue that miss more than hit Hillary for her position on trade. I share Hillary's hope that the TPP would be a ground breaking agreement for worker rights and the environment. But historically, these agreements have been a disaster. And Hillary's hesitations and hopes are listed right there on the RNC’s blog, which clearly shows she is not being hypocritical. She had been very wrong about other deals that show her corporate leanings (GOP positions) and will have to answer for them in her campaign. But that's not Priebus' point.

In fact, the RNC considers "not having a position" to be hypocritical as well. That would put every major GOP candidate for president ahead of Hillary in the number of "H"'s! Hyperbole could be another word....

RNC's Priebus says Obama ignoring Voters? Maybe Hard Core Tea Party Republican voters.

It's an upside down, Bizarro World of politics, isn't it? RNC president Reince Priebus's recent tweet opened the door for a quick "this is what the people want" myth bust:

He's not even close. Who's ignoring voters?

Walker's positive and stolen "Comeback" campaign includes Mary Burke Bashing Reince Priebus...all in good fun?

Our classless Governor Walker couldn't help but take a jab at Mary Burke's outside support from Michelle and Barack Obama, President Clinton and others who didn't follow Walker's own campaign trip through Wisconsin. Poor Mary Burke, stuck in old Milwaukee again?

But as WPR reported, Walker's snide remarks pale in comparison to RNC thug Reince Priebus's screed, as he played an even "badder cop" bashing Mary Burke with old and new disproved attacks on her character. The audio clip ends with a call from "Phil" bashing Burke for not denying she was ever fired from her Trek job. She must be guilty? Reporter Shawn Johnson disproved that talking point as well:

RNC Chair Reince Priebus would much rather change topics than change policy on women's issues.

The RNC's Reince Priebus is so wonderfully clueless that it's actually fun to post his commentary.

Onion News
This bumbling Barney Fife like character continues to inadvertently reveal the elaborate con behind the his party's "secret" policy decisions.

After an internal poll discovered conservative women are not at all happy with the party's direction on women's issues, instead of changing their position on contraception, transvaginal probes, choice, equal pay and charter schools, Reince told Chuck Todd that changing the subject was the better way to go.

Reince thinks women will forget everything else if Republican men can just present a plan to create jobs, because...:
"Women don't really...ah, don't really...aren't really moved on these issues... In fact if Republicans talk about things like the economy, the debt and make the case for jobs and schools and education and push back, I think Republicans will win it by more..."

Politico reported on Wednesday that the Crossroads GPS and American Action Network report found that women think the GOP is "intolerant," "lacking in compassion," and "stuck in the past." According to the report, 49 percent of women view the Republican Party unfavorably, and 39 percent of women view Democrats unfavorably.
At least the GOP has an advantage with young guys that look like old men. The Onion;

Hey Reince, what was it before..?

Republicans were so disconnected from, and so unfamiliar with what we used to have for health care, that they're blissfully whining about the same things. Why? Well, the one thing they both have in common...insurance companies. Instead of keeping this model...

...go to single payer: Imagine every doctor and every hospital being in your plan. No paperwork, no bankruptcy, no worries. What, long lines and waiting periods? Not really, but even if there were still a few bumps to smooth out, did the old system have long lines and waiting periods? Yes.

Scott Walker, Americans for Prosperity, Tea Party, Glenn Beck’s 9/12ers reshaped Wisconsin into what it is today and will be tomorrow!!!

RNC Chair Reince Priebus:

“How did we do it in Wisconsin? The simplest way I can tell you is we had total and complete unity between the state party, quite frankly, Americans for Prosperity, the Tea Party groups, the Grandsons of Liberty. The (Glenn Beck-instigated) 9/12ers were involved. It was a total and complete agreement that nobody cared who got the credit, that everyone was going to run down the tracks together.”

Yes, Reince is back in our world again to prank and cause political mischief. The only way to stop him was revealed in this Onion article:

Reince uses poll number to chide Dems running on ObamaCare, but ignores polls supporting gun regulation.

While Republicans ignore the overwhelming public support for sensible gun regulations, Democrats don't apparently have the same luxury.

Despite a Quinnipiac University poll showing 90% support for background checks and 54% support for stricter gun control laws, RNC Chair Reince Priebus is jabbing at Democrats for not heeding poll numbers. Ouch:
Yea, we're crazy, but your not?

Authoritarian Reince Priebus wants to: "...protect our party and our candidates from networks not in the business of promoting our party...!" Like Fox News?

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has had enough. NBC and CNN just aren't in the "business," like Fox News is, of promoting their party and candidates. You've got to hand it to Priebus for his honesty.

In fact, in this interview with Sean Hannity, Priebus is still hurting over the embarrassing and laughable 2012 presidential debates. True to conservative form, Priebus shifts the blame to the networks for just showing those bickering knuckleheads for what they are:
Priebus: "Look, in 20...in...in...a couple of years ago, we had a 23 debate traveling circus, and I think its time we cut out those people..."
Of course, the irony is lost on Priebus, who's now arguing over Hillary movies on NBC and CNN. Wasn't it the Republicans who won the right for networks to show candidate films during an election? And yet Reince can't muster the limited amount of intelligence to connect the dots:
Priebus: "Remember the outrage, ah, the Citizens United, ah....the Citizens United film, when they went forward? And all the liberals were up in arms about Citizens United...well where are they now?"
Uh, Reince, liberals lost that one in court. Political films, hit jobs or puff pieces, are now considered acceptable forms of free speech. And where are they now? Liberals are writing bills to overturn Citizens United.

To this day I still marvel at just how stupid Sean Hannity really is. Such partisan cluelessness is revealed in almost every leading question he asks. So besides seeing the surreal likes of Rick Perry and Herman Cain leading the nominee pack for a few weeks, who can forget the many very uncomfortable and outrageous answers given by the candidates themselves. Their comments are now being blamed on the liberal media:
Hannity: "In 2012, you had all these liberal networks, with Republican primary candidates, pitting one against the other, asking wedge question issues that then would later be used by the Democratic candidate...in this case against Mitt Romney. Am I wrong?"
In a word, yes. I just loved that question. Poor candidates, having to answer those lousy wedge issue questions that end up being laws pushed by Republicans. Who'd want to know that stuff?

Finally, the ultimate in authoritarian behavior, as Reince unabashedly lays out his plan of deception and control:
Priebus: "The party needs to control the debates, and we need to make sure we've got rules in place...so our candidates can have reasonable exchanges. The problem is now, we have moderators who are in the business of making news, at the expense of our party and our candidates. We can't do it anymore."
Another classic Priebus whine:
Priebus: "And they pushed these candidates into positions in ridiculous hypothetical's that are never going to be reality. All they do is have a slice and dice each other for an entire year...we have to control the referees we bring in to our playground."
Poor independent and rugged conservative individuals. Whine, whine, whine.

Forgetting Citizens United's "Hillary the Movie" Priebus wants to ban CNN and NBC's own "Hillary" movies

Remember Citizens United’s film, Hillary the Movie? That movie did everything it could to bash Clinton. When the federal government blocked its airing, the Republicans went apoplectic.

That’s when the activist Supreme Court stepped in and decided it was free speech. That opened the flood gates for special interest money and was ballyhooed by Republicans as freedom of speech and liberty!

Balls out Hypocrisy: Hillary the "movies" are back, but this time, without any sense of irony. Republican chair Reince Priebus is trying to block it with the threat of withholding “freedom”…I mean money and real speech-the debates.
The Hill: Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus threatened to pull the group’s partnership with NBC and CNN for 2016 GOP presidential primary debates if the networks moved ahead with plans to air films on Hillary Clinton. “If they have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote stating that the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor,” Preibus said in a statement.
In something reminiscent of despotic nations, where the opposition is vilified, threatened and not tolerated:
The RNC chairman cited executives and employees from both networks who have been “generous supporters” of Clinton and the Democrats. “This suggests a deliberate attempt at influencing American political opinion in favor of a preferred candidate,” Priebus wrote. “I find this disturbing and disappointing."
But Hillary the Movie...anyone? And he does know what he’s doing is blackmail. Priebus isn't worried though, he’s got followers…I mean fellow leaders to back him:
"I stand with Reince Priebus and the RNC,” Iowa GOP Chairman A.J. Spiker said in a statement. “Given NBC and CNN's decision to move forward on their films, they've attempted to give celebrity status to Hillary Clinton. They are clearly making an effort to influence the Presidential race in 2016 without adhering to their supposed pledge to uphold journalistic integrity,” Spiker added.
Hillary the Movie...that's what Republicans were trying to do with Hillary the Movie.
New Hampshire GOP Chairwoman Jennifer Horn said over Twitter that Priebus’s concerns were “valid and must be addressed.”

Hillary the Movie guys? You won that case, now you want to replay this whole thing and ban Hillary the "movies?" Hello…..

Reince Priebus redefines "tolerance" for gay Marriage, so it means...?

State embarrassment and chairman of the RNC was asked about a USA Today headline where he urged tolerance for gay marriage.

Oh boy, Reince Priebus better be very careful how he phrases his answer…
Cap Times: "I don't know if I've used the word 'tolerance,'" Reince Priebus told David Brody of the Christian Broadcasting Network Monday.
Uhhhh, he didn't just say that did he? I’m sure he’s going to catch himself and claw that back before…
"I don't really care for that word myself. I don't have a problem with it, I just think it has another meaning politically that can go the other direction."
Uhhhh, he didn't just say that too? Like Priebus' fictional counter part Humpty Dumpty often says when asked:

"When I use a word it means just what I choose it to mean — neither more nor less."

RNC Poll says Party is Smug, Uncaring and Ideologically Rigid. And that's just the good news...

This GOP study might be an appropriate warning, but they will not change. Fine with me:
jsonline: A smug, uncaring, ideologically rigid national Republican Party is turning off the majority of American voters, with stale policies that have changed little in 30 years and an image that alienates minorities and the young, according to an internal GOP study.

That blunt assessment on the state of Republicanism at the national level comes from a major new report, released Monday, that will likely shake up an already battered party. It was commissioned by the head of the Republican National Committee in the wake of Mitt Romney's defeat last year.

Without offering detailed policy prescriptions, the 98-page report calls on the party to "smartly change course," modernize itself and develop "a more welcoming brand of conservatism that invites and inspires new people to visit us."

"Unless changes are made, it will be increasingly difficult for Republicans to win another presidential election in the near future," the report concludes.
Believe it or not, slow learner and bumbling RNC Chair Reince Piebus came right out and admitted that the party's next tactic is to "pay" people to hang out with minorities to spread their propaganda. Paid to be a part of minority communities. Would I kid you? Face the Nation host Bob Scheifer couldn't believe what he was hearing. Apparently, Reince is still worried about all those "unscripted moments" when Republicans say what they mean. Unintentionally funny stuff:

Here's more of the studies rollicking recommendations:

"The Republican Party needs to stop talking to itself," the study says. "We have become expert in how to provide ideological reinforcement to like-minded people, but devastatingly we have lost the ability to be persuasive with, or welcoming to, those who do not agree with us on every issue."

The report calls on Republicans to counter the party's image as an arm of business. It says Republicans should "blow the whistle at corporate malfeasance and attack corporate welfare. We should speak out when a company liquidates itself and its executives receive bonuses but rank-and-file workers are left unemployed. We should speak out when CEOs receive tens of millions of dollars in retirement packages but middle-class workers have not had a meaningful raise in years."

Republican National Committee Chair Reince Priebus moves party into Permanent Campaign Mode!! That's a change?

From the party that always calls Pres. Obama the campaigner and chief, accusing him of
campaigning even when pushing policy, has decided to permanently campaign…what?

Don't get me wrong, I'm very well aware Republicans have always been in permanent campaign mode, but it's fun to see them pretend this is a new idea.
The GOP erred by not running a more “permanent” campaign in its quest to retake the White House, according to Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus. “So fundamentally we sort of have to accept the fact that we are in a permanent political environment and that nine-month operations aren’t going to work anymore, obviously.”

Onion exposes Reince Priebus as mischievous Imp.

Superman's mischievous 5th dimensional impish villain Mister Mxyzptlk is the basis for this great parody of a similar real life trickster; RNC chair Reince Priebus.
Onion: Startled sources at a GOP fundraiser confirmed Thursday that after being duped into saying his own name backwards, ancient elfin mischief-maker and Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus was cast back into the gilded puzzle box that has confined him for millennia.

Priebus, a wily, mystical creature who has reportedly carried out right-wing political trickery at numerous points throughout recorded history, was said to be delivering a speech on traditional family values when he unthinkingly read the words “Subeirp Ecnier” aloud off the teleprompter, immediately causing the lights in the Omni Hotel to flicker and sending a powerful, chilling wind through the convention hall.
