Washington Times Headline Lied, reporter Lied, saying Matt Damon called for Gun "Ban and Confiscation."

Right wing media is doing everything it can to not just continue the gun carnage, but make it worse.

I just ran across this amazing example of media lying that is clearly meant to incite violence from frightened gun owners. Just so you know, Australia did not "confiscate" or "ban" guns, a ridiculous fiction. They have registration, a need to own provision, etc.:
‘Jason Bourne’ star Matt Damon calls for U.S. to ban guns ‘in one fell swoop’ By Douglas Ernst -The Washington Times - Tuesday, July 5, 2016: Hollywood actor Matt Damon used a press conference in Australia over the Fourth of July weekend to discuss his desire for a massive confiscation of U.S. guns.
Matt Damon did not discuss confiscation either, see for yourself:
“You guys did it here in one fell swoop and I wish that could happen in my country, but it’s such a personal issue for people that we cannot talk about it sensibly. We just can’t.

Obviously mass shootings aren’t going to do it. There have been so many of them at this point. Sandy Hook, when those children were murdered, if that didn’t do it, you know, I just don’t know. Maybe we just need to evolve further before we can have that conversation, I don’t know.”
And this is the kind of message gun happy protectors of the 2nd Amendment drool over. And none of it is true. But as we all know, Black Lives Matter is really to blame.

The issue has always been "regulation," not confiscation. The fact that slightly fewer people are killed every year doesn't make the 10,000 plus that die, okay. But if that's your attitude, than maybe you should be on the list Republicans want to make targeting the mentally ill, because you fit the profile. Note: The mentally ill are being unfairly targeted, since their percentage of gun crimes is fractionally small. They're a scapegoat for NRA fire breathing conservatives. Big surprise.

Reince uses poll number to chide Dems running on ObamaCare, but ignores polls supporting gun regulation.

While Republicans ignore the overwhelming public support for sensible gun regulations, Democrats don't apparently have the same luxury.

Despite a Quinnipiac University poll showing 90% support for background checks and 54% support for stricter gun control laws, RNC Chair Reince Priebus is jabbing at Democrats for not heeding poll numbers. Ouch:
Yea, we're crazy, but your not?

Magic Wand Johnson knows better than 80% of constituents when it comes to background checks.

Bush wished he could have used a magic wand, but I can't remember what he was talking about at that time.

So here comes Dumb Ron Johnson, condescendingly telling adult voters that there's no "magic wand" that'll stop gun deaths. Johnson said the 80 percent in a recent poll who want background checks favor a "magic wand" solution. Who is he describing? It appears Johnson has fabricated an out of touch easily mislead Wisconsin voter who believes in magic wands, to compensate for his own incompetence. He says he's not concerned about your vote..show him you don't care for him either. From Upfront with Mike Gousha (goo-shay):

Heir to Busch Brewing Empire Cancels Lifetime Membership to NRA!! Who's next?

Will NRA members protest with an avalanche of canceled empty membership? Hope so:

Huffington Post: One day after the U.S. Senate rejected a bill that would have expanded background checks on guns, one of St. Louis' most powerful and staunch supporters of gun rights ended his lifetime membership with the National Rifle Association (NRA).

In an email sent exclusively to NewsChannel 5's Leisa Zigman, Adolphus Busch IV, an heir to the Busch family fortune, asked the gun rights group to "immediately" remove his name from its membership roles.

The Brave and the Frightened Cowards

Credo Action

Morning Joe trashes Republican vote on Background Checks, Rubio proposes stopping violence on earth first, and Baseball Player afraid of Crowds.

There's an awful lot of talk about the self destructive nature of the Republican Party. But I'm not convinced. Joe Scarborough thinks so, saying this about the unbelievable rejection of background checks for terrorists, violent rapists and gang members:

I believe Republicans will become more radicalized and emboldened with big wins like the defeat of gun background checks, and the cuts to important spending that would likely produce the economic underpinnings of the next generation.

But just as important, they've destabilized the American psyche. Check out this unfiltered rant from Philadelphia Phillies all-star pitcher Jonathan Papelbon, who's beginning to fear walking through stadium crowds and Obama's attempt to take his guns. It pretty much says it all:

Just for review, the following presents in full view the vacuous and meaningless argument against background checks by Marco Rubio. Even Chris Wallace had a problem with Rubio's grasping at straws lunacy. Two questions stand out; why did Rubio support background checks in Florida; and when Rubio said violence, not guns is the problem, Wallace asked, "How do you stop violence senator?" Good question.

Senate Rejection of 90% of Americans Support of Background Checks Stunning.

My conservative friend in Milwaukee called this morning to hash over last nights disappointment over the Senates filibuster vote on background checks. Out of the blue, he pointed out how little people care about the issue. That surprised me, since I don't listen to right wing media, or remember all the stupid interpretations of the Second Amendment.

I wasn't the only one puzzled by the phony argument. At Mediaite, thankfully, I found my answer:
There’s a tendency to see what we want to in polls, a tendency that doesn’t often end well. Case in point: a Gallup poll that was cited on this website Wednesday to support the conclusion that “Only Politicians And The Media Care About Gun Control And Immigration.”

That conclusion, particularly where guns are concerned, is belied by several months of Pew polls that show Americans are following, and have been following, the debate over guns more closely than any other news story.

The Gallup poll cited by my pal Noah Rothman did, indeed, place the issue of guns and gun control ninth on a list of issues, but does that mean that Americans don’t care about the issue? In the January 3-6 survey, 34% of Americans said they were following news on the gun debate very closely, a close second to the fiscal cliff’s 38%. Since then, the gun debate has dominated the survey every time it’s been included: Most recently, the gun debate edged out North Korea, 37%-36%, while immigration remained flat, at 23%, since February. At its peak, the gun debate was being followed either “very closely” or “fairly closely” by 72% of Americans, and remains at 65% of Americans closely following it.

This survey doesn’t necessarily tell us how people feel about the gun debate; 41% of Republicans say they’re following it very closely, versus 37% of independents and 34% of Democrats. That gives Republicans an edge in energy around this debate, but then again, an awful lot of Republicans supported background checks.
