John Kelly trashing a black congresswoman for speaking up against Trump's insensitive comment to a Gold Star family, and wishing to go back to a fictional past where women were considered "sacred," isn't it a bit ironic coming from a Republican administration that thinks nothing is sacred?

Let's start with another Wisconsin embarrassment that doesn't seem to want to go away, former Sheriff David Clarke. Again, is nothing sacred?

I heard this clip on Randi Rhodes show today, and thought every conservative voters should have another chance to hear and see it.

Newt Gingrich lays out clearly why a health care mandate is necessary. It's base entirely on self reliance, the supposed foundation of the Republican Party. It's not, but that's another story.

Yet Obama has given all the signals that he's going to give up everything at this point so the government doesn't default. He's even asking us to give again, share the sacrifice on top of everything else we've suffered. WTF! There's going to be a big blank space, a no vote, on the ballot for president in 2011. If it means President Bachmann and tanking the economy, let's get to it, without the Democrats fingerprints all over it.

Jerome Corsi, the author of the ill-timed book titled, "Where's the Birth Certificate?," wrote this “article” for WorldNetDaily in the desperate hopes right wing conspiracy theorists would not abandon the Republican Party’s expansive Obama smear campaign. After all, he’s black.

Newly unearthed information about Hawaii's procedure for numbering birth records at the time Barack Obama was born casts further doubt on the authenticity of the short-form and long-form birth certificates published onlinewith the president's authority … analysts have wondered how Obama could have been issued a registration number that is higher than the numbers of the published birth certificates of Susan and Gretchen Nordyke, which were registered three days later than the president's.

Some have speculated that even though Obama's birth certificate was received by the registrar Aug. 8, 1961, the registration number could have been assigned a few days later by a clerk processing a batch that included the Nordyke twins' birth records … But a 1955 article by Hawaii's registrar general in 1961 stated birth certificates were numbered immediately upon acceptance by the registrar-general.

Republicans betray President Obama with massive adoration, support and 29 standing ovations to Prime Minister Netanyahu. While back home, Israeli’s support Obama’s position.

In one of the most flagrant un-American acts yet by the Republican Party, and their unyielding support for policies opposed by a majority of Israeli’s, they gave 29 standing ovations against Obama’s plan for peace in the Middle East.  

This sick act of defiance against a sitting president should send a clear message to Obama that the time for compromise is over. Jonathan Turley:

There is a fascinating disconnect in this week after Israeli Prime Minister received 29 standing ovations in Congress in defying Obama’s recent Middle East initiative but, according to a poll this week, 57 percent of Israeli voters supported Obama’s initiative.

ABC News: One of his biggest applause lines was aimed directly at  President Obama. “Israel will not return to the indefensible boundaries of 1967,” Netanyahu said, prompting a big standing ovation. As Netanyahu himself pointed out, the President has not called on Israel to return to the exact 1967 borders.  The President has said that a peace agreement should be “based on 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps."

Netanyahu arguably got an warmer reception than President Obama received during his last state of the union President Obama got 25 standing ovations from Congress during his 2011 State of the Union address. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu got 29 today.

Republicans Tearing Down Reality: Down the Rabbit Hole Logic, and “Muddying the Waters” on Big Oil Subsidies.

I don’t even know where to start on this one:

WKOW: Republicans are calling President Barack Obama's call to end tax breaks and subsidies for oil companies a ploy to introduce a tax increase that they say would end up costing jobs.

Huh? The tax increase aside (are they hallucinating?), with Big Oil and the help of Wall Street speculators raking in obscene global profits on $4 a gallon gas at the pump, stopping tax payer assistance to these companies would...cost jobs?

Remember when prices were at $2.95 a gallon, and Republicans criticized Obama’s cap and trade proposal as a job killer because it would increase prices at the pump, among other things? Have Big Oil and speculators been criticized by the Republicans for KILLING JOBS? NO!

Obama's call for oil company tax breaks to end comes as these companies are raking in booming profits, and while gas prices are surging toward record highs.

Stepping through the looking glass, Oklahoma Rep. Jim Lankford “muddied the waters” with this:

In the weekly GOP radio and Internet address, Congressman Lankford says that Obama's plan will "hurt the everyday consumer of energy" in addition to putting jobs at risk.

Good god!!! Who’s this stupid?

Is it any wonder why they sound out of breath and panicky every second of the day, on talk radio and Fox "News," after imagining the most insane outcomes from the last election. While Democrats put up with Bush and the Republican Congress, and maybe we shouldn't have, the right churns out this dreck.


I just love the anti-American, anti-Obama web site USofEarth.com. We can now entertain ourselves with a game of revolt or get a dose of good humor, like the Trade Center "sand castle" below.

Isn't it strange how the Republicans, after being voted out of office, stamp their feet and hold their breath when they can't get their way anymore.

As for the Trade Tower picture below (oddly listed under "Humor"), the tasteless terrorist art form of sculpture is not made fun of, but instead featured to elicit "humorous" outrage?

Is Obama Jesus? Are Longer School Years Good For Republicans Pushing Vouchers?

The conservative humor site PJTV is the home to some very slick and well produced political pieces, including work by Andrew Klaven and Steven Crowder. I've edited together two shortened segments to demonstrate how clever conservatives can be (based on right wing fictions), yet still oddly out of sink with reality.

In a elementary classroom setting, Klaven teaches us the similarities between Obama and Jesus, while Crowder plays a kids show host raking the public school system over the coals for rejecting vouchers. His puppet "children" are appalled of course. Crowder brings up the Danish voucher system which, like the Swedes, has characteristics adamantly opposed by the Republican Party. You might say, an inconvenient truth.



Some facts about Denmark schools: The state sets the laws regarding education. The government outlines the essential education policy. Federalization of education in 1989 gave the communities federally provided financial resources and gave them very few areas of decision-making under federal control. The federal government determines the length of compulsory education, the minimum requirements for obtaining diplomas, and pensions and other benefits of teachers.

That's just the opposite point of view posed by voucher advocates and privateers. According to the blog Alpha Shrugged:

First, envision a national teacher union, a national teacher contract, and a national right to strike. Think you can talk states like Texas and Nevada out of banning the right to strike to a NATIONAL teacher's union? Collaterally, of course, teacher salaries are established according to that national contract.

Fox News' John Stossel berated "a union-government" monopoly on public education, but glossed over this "little" detail in the Belgian not-so-fine print: all those "competetive" schools pay their teachers according to the national contract, not according to local desires or needs.

Understand that Belgian schools do not provide transportation. You can choose a school 20 miles from home, but even if you live within three miles, there will be no yellow bus ferrying your kids at the public's expense. A very dependable system of public transportation will, however, provide regular-traveler discounts. If turning your child over to public transportation isn't something you feel comfortable with, you're on your own.

I should mention that they aren't called "foreign languages" in Belgium: they're "modern languages." Belgium has three official languages, none of them "foreign": French, Dutch, and German.

Can you imagine English only advocates getting on board with idea "modern languages?"
