Conservatives in Colorado School District push Propaganda, Patriotism over real American History. Students Protest for Week.

Tea party like Americans love the simple thought of freedom and liberty. No meaning, no struggle, no history, no lessons to be learned, just that warm fuzzy concept.

Colorado's Jefferson County school board is finding out that the next generation won't be happy with propaganda dressed up as history. This could take your breath away:
Students are upset by a proposal, drafted by board member Julie Williams, that would form a committee to inspect curriculum in those advanced history classes. It would insure teachers covered concepts like patriotism, the free-enterprise economy and respect for authority — and eschewed subjects about civil disorder and social strife.
We already know Republicans everywhere despise social unrest, civil disobedience and protests against their dystopian agenda, but the last few weeks have revealed two shocking public admissions by conservative media.

The first was this plainly stated common viewpoint by conservative talker Vicki McKenna's Facebook post.

That's a picture of the 2011 winter protests against Gov. Scott Walker's Act 10 attack on collective bargaining, stripping union rights. That big crowd resulted in a recall petition that garnered one million names. That list is now being used as a black list to attack those running for office and unsuspecting voters at the polls.

If anything, even the most conservative individuals should shudder at the use of that list, and where this could eventually lead.

The second example was Fox News' reaction to this story, highlighted in this "Trending" countdown on the Ed Show. This might shock you:

Here's more of the story:
CBS/AP: More Jefferson County high school students are protesting a proposal to emphasize patriotism in Advanced Placement history classes. Students at Bear Creek High School in Lakewood protested Thursday in the fourth straight day of demonstrations.

A Chatfield student said Thursday she worries modifying history curriculum would snowball into changes in other classes. “It is very concerning because it doesn’t stop at history. It continues on to changing texts books to not include evolution, teaching students not how to think but what to think and that is what we don’t want to happen here,” student Ashlyn Maher said.
If the story of our country isn't enough to encourage patriotism, than we're in big trouble. But I think the following comment, oddly not featured in the story below, tells you all you need to know about the conservative agenda and their disrespect for dissension. Wouldn't you know it, it's some kind of teacher plot:
Ken Witt, the president of the school board, said he thinks students are being used as pawns by teachers, who are unhappy with the history proposal as well as a new pay plan.
Here's what one teacher thought:
“A democracy is messy. It’s messy, it’s a struggle. It requires your participation,” said Stephanie Rossi, a history teacher at Wheat Ridge High School and the vice president of the Jefferson County Education Association. “It requires your voice. I didn’t want anybody’s voice to be chilled because we’re afraid to talk about certain people in history who have in fact made our democracy a greater democracy.”

Sensenbrenner is Lying says National Review about Spying on Americans and Writing Patriot Act.

Once Wisconsin politicians step into the spotlight, their phony carefully constructed voter image melts away. Take Rep. James Sensenbrenner.

According to an article in the conservative National Review, Sensenbrenner lied boldly over and over.

Like Lying Paul Ryan, badger state lawmakers have a big problem with bullshitting:
Andrew McCarthy: Sensenbrenner’s authorship claim, implausible enough under the circumstances of the PATRIOT Act’s drafting, is even harder to fathom once his description of the business-records provision is compared with the law Congress actually passed.

“And in order to get the act passed, it was limited. It was limited only to getting the business records of a foreigner, not an American, who was the target of an authorized terrorism investigation.”
This is false, through and through. Section 215 expressly permits the government to obtain the business records of American citizens … (and) it does not require that either foreigners or Americans be “targets” or suspects in a terrorism investigation before their business records may be obtained.
The provision reads the way it does — as anyone who actually wrote it would know — because partisans of the traditional constitutional supremacy of the executive branch in national-defense matters prevailed over progressives and libertarians who wanted to put the judges in charge of intelligence gathering. Subsection (a)(1):
the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation or a designee . . . may make an application for an order … for an investigation to obtain foreign intelligence information not concerning a United States person or to protect against international terrorism or clandestine intelligence activities, provided that such investigation of a United States person is not conducted solely upon the basis of activities protected by the first amendment to the Constitution. [Emphasis added.]
Sensenbrenner had his day in the media, but only after deciding to lie, lie, lie.

Wisconsin’s getting some kind of reputation. Wait till the national media discovers Scott Walker isn't the job creating dynamo he says he is.

Really, the Journal Sentinel is willing to pimp Thompson's Empty "Tammy missed a 9/11 Vote?"

How desperate is Tommy Thompson?

Thompson has been resorting to one last desperate ploy; in the words of Samuel Johnson, "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel." Tommy is questioning Tammy Baldwin's patriotism. This "patriotic" horse and pony show in congress over symbolic resolutions that have nothing to do with a representatives real job, is all Tommy has left sling.

It also seems odd jsonline's Dan Bice is writing this useless trash too? The headline blames Tammy for missing a vote on one isolated 9/11 resolution, but down a few lines Tammy explains she was sick that day. So...no story right? Wrong. It calls into question Tammy's patriotism. Pathetic.

I just came across this phrase in Bob Dylan's great song "Sweetheart Like You," with a few extra lyrics that describe Romney to a T:

Fourth of July turns kids into Republicans

What a great story about a stunning conclusion by a Harvard study on the effects of Fourth of July parades. No, really, I'm not making this up. I thought these two observations pretty much said it all:

Resistance is futile, and if you resist, you don’t get any hot dogs-by John Hayward: U.S. News brings us word of an important new Harvard study, which has concluded that Fourth of July parades are a form of right-wing brainwashing that “energize only Republicans, turn kids into Republicans, and help to boost the GOP turnout of adults on Election Day.”
"Fourth of July celebrations in the United States shape the nation's political landscape by forming beliefs and increasing participation, primarily in favor of the Republican Party ... The political right has been more successful in appropriating American patriotism and its symbols during the 20th century.

Survey evidence also confirms that Republicans consider themselves more patriotic than Democrats. Fourth of July celebrations in Republican dominated counties may thus be more politically biased events that socialize children into Republicans," write the Harvard Kennedy School.

According to the study, attending Fourth of July celebrations increases the likelihood of people younger than 18 identifying as a Republican by at least 2 percent, and raises the likelihood that parade watchers will vote for Republican candidates by 4 percent.  It also increases the chances that Fourth of July celebrants will vote by 1 percent.  These effects are said to be “surprisingly” enduring, with “no evidence of the effects depreciating as individuals become older.”

Or this from the Atlanta Journal Constitution's Jim Galloway, Political Insider:

Beware: If you go to a Fourth of July celebration on Monday, your kids are statistically more likely to end up Republican. Harvard University says so. From the press release: Read the real, honest-to-God study here. This was the key to their methodology:

In their paper, the researchers use a simple but novel strategy to address these problems: they use historical data on rainfall on Fourth of July. When it rains children and their parents are less likely to participate and the events are often cancelled.

Moreover, since rain is a random event, some children growing up experience nice weather and are more likely to celebrate, while others are hit by bad weather making it less likely that they join the festivities. This allows the researchers to isolate the effect of attending the celebrations from other important factors such as family background and education.
Just another big day in the life of flag pin patriots.

GOP Outrage over Blumenthal's Service in Vietnam Fizzlessss!

Holy cow. Here's the deal:
USA Today:The New York Times is reporting that one of the party's brightest hopes, Connecticut Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal, has been fibbing about his military service. The paper says Blumenthal has been suggesting at campaign stops that he served in Vietnam when, in fact, he did not.

So it's only natural the GOP took the leap:
Republicans are pouncing. Blumenthal "owes the people of Connecticut, and particularly its veterans" an explanation for "what appears to be a long history of dishonest statements," said Brian Walsh, spokesman for the National Republican Senatorial Committee, in a statement.
But wait, how do you explain the following released video by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee:

Passively allowing Republicans/Conservative calls to Over Throw the Government is Even More Dangerous. Spoiled Brat Party Needs a Timeout.

For the longest time I've allowed the conservative demagogues to guilt trip me into thinking they have a constitutional right to protest policies they don't understand or lie about. Because the word treason was insanely overused by the Bush administration and the McCain/Palin campaign, also a campaign talking point, I discounted the word all together. But looking back now, I'm wondering if this misapplication of the word treason mistakenly took the issue completely off the table.

Maryann Tobin of Examiner.com wrote this revelatory piece for the unenlightened:

Since the passage of health care legislation, death threats against democratic lawmakers and the filibuster are only part of the new revolutionary Republican arsenal. At a Tea Party protest on Tuesday, Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) urged the crowd to launch an uprising against the federal government. King said people should “bring the nation's capital to a sort of paralysis” and to "continue to rise up.” Recent rhetoric by Sarah Palin, and Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) have riled up crowds with similar statements, along with their own call to arms against health care reformers, and those with viewpoints outside of their own.

According to Section 3 of the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution – such statements could be considered treason. Additionally, TITLE 18- PART I- CHAPTER 115 Rebellion or insurrection states: “Whoever incites, sets on foot, assists, or engages in any rebellion or insurrection against the authority of the United States or the laws thereof, or gives aid or comfort thereto, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.”

Although King, Palin and Bachmann have every right to disagree with the passage of health care reform, even the hint of overthrowing the United States government because of it, begs the questions - why would they even suggest such a thing? And what will we end up with if no one stops them?
If not now, when, is the real question. The Republican Party, without one dissenter, is attempting to stop the Democratic Party from bringing about the change they promised in the election. The Democratic agenda was not a closely held secret during the campaigns. None of this should have been a surprise to anyone. The voters decided, and chose not to go with spoiled brat party, who now seems to be having a tantrum.

What was a surprise was the unanticipated avalanche of outright lies and fear mongering. Ideas and ideology went out the window, replaced by fictions designed to muddy the issues and strike fear in the minds of Americans.

Projecting out ten years or so, where do you think this countries political system will be?

Phony patriotism exposed! State Republicans want Wisconsin parents to pay for returning veterans "free" tuition, so the state doesn't have to.

State Representative Kevin Petersen proudly wants to stick the university of Wisconsin with the bill again to "own up in part to the huge debt owed each and every hero." Here's how this phony patriot spun the GOP's irresponsible and unfunded "free" tuition program for veterans.

Governor Doyle echoed the state’s gratitude to veterans in his State of the State speech … with these words: “…four years ago, I was proud to sign a bill that ensures our veterans have the chance to get an education -- tuition-free -- at one of Wisconsin’s great universities or technical colleges.”

Because of changes Democrats added to Wisconsin’s budget, our veterans are now forced to apply for the federal Post 9/11 benefit prior to receiving any benefit from the Wisconsin GI Bill … the non-partisan legislative fiscal bureau : “In 2008-09, tuition was increased to generate $18 million in revenues to offset revenues lost by providing tuition and fees remissions to veterans.”
See, Republicans pass a law allowing veterans a free college education but didn't pay for it. More on that in a moment.

To restore Wisconsin veterans tuition benefits to the original intent, I’m introducing legislation which permits a student to receive full remission of academic fees … without regard to educational assistance under federal programs. In passing my bill, we own up in part to the huge debt owed each and every hero.
Here's what I wrote back to State Rep. Petersen: Tuition rose on every other students in the state, and they ended up paying for the Republican backed state GI bill. Patriot chest pounders like you didn't pay for the benefits.

Why shouldn't the federal funding run out first? Better yet, pay for the "free" tuition and put state money where your mouth and patriotism is. As I recall, Democrats asked Republicans where the funding would come from, and one of your partisan colleagues said the university already had enough money, they can pay for it.

And now you have the gall to complain?

Right Wing Web Site Declares "2011 Obama's Coup Fails"

Conservatives have an odd sense of humor. Is it any wonder why they sound out of breath and panicky every second of the day, on talk radio and Fox "News," after imagining the most insane outcomes from the last election. While Democrats put up with Bush and the Republican Congress, and maybe we shouldn't have, the right churns out this dreck.

I just love the anti-American, anti-Obama web site USofEarth.com. We can now entertain ourselves with a game of revolt or get a dose of good humor, like the Trade Center "sand castle" below.

Isn't it strange how the Republicans, after being voted out of office, stamp their feet and hold their breath when they can't get their way anymore.

Under the web site heading, "2011 Obama's Coup Fails," they weave their little story...

Private Ownership of firearms has been outlawed, and Obama has promised a new era of equality and peace. Unfortunately for Obama, Americans would not act like the sheep he had taken them for. Revolution begins.

The United States is a creation of "racists and warmongers," Obama says to a stunned America, and is to be replaced by the North American Union. In the course of this very broadcast, Obama, with two simple pen strokes, signs the "treaties" into law. One dissolves the United States and its Constitution, and the other disarms what is left of the gun-owning United States citizenry, as part and parcel of a United Nations Treaty to ban all firearms, which had already been signed into law by over 40 nations.
As for the Trade Tower picture below (oddly listed under "Humor"), the tasteless terrorist art form of sculpture is not made fun of, but instead featured to elicit "humorous" outrage?

"Politically Incorrect reaction to the following photo from me I guess when I say that these a**holes need a damned nuke dropped right on top of them. Pisses me off to see celebrating planes going into the Twin Towers and making a celebration and sandcastles and having a grand party. Yeah I know, since I live in NY I can hear people chime in with ” We caused it”. That kind of BS makes me sick to hear."
It's a crazy, disjointed, mixed up, "down the rabbit hole" world. And we're seeing more of this stuff.

Flag Waving Americans Want to Secede from U.S., Love their Country to Much to Stay?

Great American's don't have to put up with the mess created by the Obama administration. American exceptionalism is too precious to waste on a country in crisis, caused by the gay liberal agenda, government spending and creeping socialism. If you're like most right of center patriots, it's time show you mean business and demand your state secede from the union. Glenn Beck and Fox News can't help but spread the word, fear and anger festering in the hearts of rural Americans. On a show titled "America Torn" Beck brings in his old friend and secessionist Thomas Naylor, founder of the group Second Vermont Republic.

The Texas Cut-and-Runners. Cry Baby Republicans Stamp Feet, Threaten to Run Away From U.S.!

What is it about Republican hypocrisy? They shout slogans like “country first” and “U.S.A, love it or leave it,” while vilifying the Democrats as whiny unhappy complainers who hate their country. Oddly, Republicans have been the only ones who have ever brought up the idea of seceding. Despite the media avoidance of the issue, Sarah Palin’s husband Todd was a registered AIP member from 1995 to 2002, and the AIP leadership certainly considers Sarah one of their own. The Alaska Independence Party promotes Alaska seceding as one of the United States and becoming it's own country! Palin sent a video message to the AIP for its annual convention, in 2006 and 2008.

Then of course we had Governor of Texas Rick Perry suggesting the possibility of his state seceding over the simple fact that the Democrats are in charge and the government is now being asked to pay up the bills it has rung up for the last eight years. Bottom line: Republicans want to “skip the bill.”

Sen. John McCain supporter Chuck Norris now has his own plans, echoed by many during the tea bag protest, of walking away from your obligations.

Martial-arts master Chuck Norris has his sights set on becoming more than a Texas Ranger - he has volunteered to run as the state's first president. Norris, who is a staunch Republican, insists Texans want an independent state after being let down by the American government - and thinks he'd be the ideal candidate to lead the Lone Star state's revolution.

He says, "I may run for president of Texas. That need may be a reality sooner than we think. If not me, someone someday may again be running for president of the Lone Star state, if the state of the union continues to turn into the enemy of the state.

You know what that means…"Anyone who has been around Texas for any length of time knows exactly what we'd do if the going got rough in America."-WIBA-AM

Norris just called the U.S. the enemy of the state. Norris, like many Republicans, wants to cut and run. Secede like a true patriot?
