Denied his vote, senior Iwo Jima Veteran should have done his research first, says GOP mouthpiece Media Trackers.

Media Tracker’s Brian Sikma is a real piece of work. Many years ago I had a friend who used his fake cluelessness as an excuse to get away with saying the dumbest things. Sikma reminds me of him.

Sikma couldn’t resist taking a shot a veteran turned away when he tried to vote.

Liberal Justice’s should Shut Up: Because Justice Ann Walsh Bradley came out against the voter ID law, she’s using her position to attack poor Scott Walker. JS:
A veteran who fought at Iwo Jima in 1945 and who, for the first time, was denied his right to vote thanks to the state’s voter ID law being in effect … was brought to light because his niece, Justice Ann Walsh Bradley of the state Supreme Court, wrote a letter to Gov. Scott Walker outlining her displeasure over the situation and her opposition to the law. Bradley was among the minority of justices who dissented from the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the law. Leo Olson of Reedsburg, tried to use his veterans ID card ... but that form of identification can’t be used under the state’s voter ID law.
Who would have though a veterans ID card wouldn't be enough: Sikma is quick to blame a veteran for not getting another ID:
Oddly, (JS's) Patrick Marley never ... (got an) explanation about why the veteran never obtained a free state ID card which meets current voter ID requirements.
Of course Sikma skipped blaming Republicans for purposely excluding the veterans ID card in the first place, while acknowledging the legislatures sudden plan to reinstate it, now that the shit hit the fan:
Marley did point out that state law could be changing soon to allow veteran ID cards to suffice for voter ID purposes.
Oh, and don't fund the elections board to pay for an ad campaign to explain the new law. Anyone see billboards, newspaper ads and television PSA's detailing the process? Nope, so Sikma decided to lie:
While the story of a veteran not being able to vote tugs at heart strings, it is hardly the fault of the law. The Government Accountability Board has spent a significant amount of time and money on a public awareness campaign emphasizing a valid ID.
Biting the (Vets) Hand that feeds them (votes): What the heck is wrong with veterans in their 80's, not doing their research, scouring every page of information, and jumping through a few "minor" hoops so they can vote? Why didn't Leo Olson think to check out...
...the GAB’s website “BringIt.Wisconsin.gov”

Marley noted that the veteran’s wife was upset because her husband’s Veterans Administration card didn’t work for voter ID purposes ... the VA itself emphasizes on its website that VA cards function as enrollment and identification cards for VA services and may sometimes be used as ID cards for travel. However, the VA carefully notes the card is not a substitute for other forms of identification.

And why couldn't Olson just go through the process all over again to get an ID requiring the same documentation he used the first time applied for his veterans ID? Common sense-like...
Fascinatingly, the VA requires veterans to undergo a rigid process to prove their identity before getting a VA card. In fact, if you can get a VA identification card you have what it takes to get a free Wisconsin voter ID card. The required documents to obtain a VA card are listed here, the required documents to get a Wisconsin voter ID card are here. The lists closely parallel one another.
Sikma is one sick dude. This reminds me of the Republican Medicare plan to force seniors into shopping every year for the best deal on health insurance, as if the problems with mobility and declining mental alertness simply don't exist for the aged.

Like I've said before, someone should require a recordable ID process and signature for all gun purchases. Let's see how long that small inconvenience would last.

Vote for Justice Ann Walsh Bradley today, or get this guy...

Grumpy conservative activist judge and now supreme court justice candidate James Daley says he's got no agenda. So I thought this was funny enough to repeat here, from Cognitive Dissidence:
"Can a judge be that dishonest that he would claim to be "non partisan" and hang out daily with bitter partisans like these two? Do we really want someone in the highest court who thinks a day with Vicki Mckenna is a good day?"

The other person is Brian Schimming who was high level in the Wisconsin Republican party but recently appointed by Scott Walker as COO of WHEDA to soak the taxpayers for Cadillac benefits and $128,000/yr.

Judge Daley: Justice Bradley the center...the key to the courts dysfunction. Forcing a man to choked her was the last straw.

What is it about the media in Wisconsin?

For months now supreme court challenger Judge James Daley has been blaming the victim, Justice Ann Walsh Bradley, for the abuse she suffered at the hands of Justice David Prosser. And no one outraged?

Personally, I found Daley's comments from tonight's debate breathtakingly misogynistic. If only women knew their place, and didn't provoke others with their opinions. This is insane behavior:

And the Journal Sentinel's Jason Stein said nothing.

Justice Bradley let's Right Wing radio's character assassin take his shot at Candidate James Daley.

Ann Walsh Bradley didn't have to say a thing about the most activist flame throwing conservative judge since Judge Rudolph Randa, instead she simply let right wing talker Mark Belling do it for her. Here's her hard hitting radio ad.

jsonline: Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley on Thursday released a scorching campaign ad attacking her opponent in next month's Supreme Court election. The ad features a harsh rant by popular conservative radio talk show host Mark Belling accusing Bradley's challenger, Rock County Circuit Court Judge James Daley, of being soft on crime.

"He's unfit to serve giving his depraved view on plea bargaining and child abuse," Belling says as ominous music plays in the background. "It is Daley who decided to hand down a lenient, one-year sentence to a man who savagely beat the young child of his then-girlfriend."

Belling added that the injuries were described as "horrific." "I am not going to publicly say that I think that this man is fit to be on the state Supreme Court when he's not," Belling said. "He's a miserably rotten candidate."
Bradley is letting the ad speak for itself, and so is Belling:
In an email Friday, Belling said Bradley used his comments accurately and he thinks the case in question disqualifies Daley for service on the Supreme Court.
Is Judge James Daley a conservative activist and rubber stamp for Scott Walker? He said he just happens to get invites to speak to interested Republicans...coincidence? You be the judge. I wrote about this here:

Justice Prosser a Danger to fellow Justice Bradley, who needed security and locked her door at night.

Just how bad do we need to throw out the conservative bullies on the Wisconsin Supreme Court?

Well, if you have to lock your door after hours to protect yourself from an aging partisan misogynist,  we're long long over due.

I wonder what the conservative radio jackals will say about this lurking and sinister Justice? They won’t, or they'll blame "liberals," whatever that means.
jsonline: State Supreme Court Justice Ann Walsh Bradley received stepped-up security from law enforcement more than two months before Justice David Prosser put his hands around her neck in a dispute over a controversial case, according to a court document issued Wednesday.

That disclosure came in a decision Bradley released recusing herself from the ethics case against Prosser over the June 2011 altercation. Bradley wrote in the filing that she and Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson to this day lock themselves in their offices when working after hours because of concerns about Prosser's behavior. "If nothing is done, I wonder what will happen next in this escalating pattern of abusive behavior," Bradley wrote.

Reelection Slipping Away, Justice Roggensack promises to Discipline Justice Prosser.

Conservatism is an embarrassing and burdensome condition that sweats desperation.

Take Justice Roggensack, who's up for reelection, and is struggling to get past her nastiness.

How desperate? She's now knows her lies about harmony on the court fell flat, and painted her out-of-touch with reality.

Bradley's disclosures also could cause ripples in the re-election campaign of Justice Patience Roggensack, who has contended the Bradley-Prosser altercation was an aberration and that everyone on the court is now getting along. Roggensack's three-way primary is Tuesday, and Bradley noted that throughout the campaign Roggensack has said the justices are "doing just fine" and that claims of dysfunction on the court are "just a bunch of gossip at its worst."
So now it's time to discipline Justice David Prosser. This is too good:

WPT: But the most specific promise Justice Patience Roggensack is making to voters is that she will once and for all resolve the outstanding ethics charge against fellow Justice David Prosser. Roggensack says despite the fact that all but one of the justices witnessed the incident, the court can agree to officially resolve the case one way or another and show the public the court can discipline its own members. “And I am hopeful we will do something from the bench in a very public way.”
