Jeb Bush's Trickle Down Plan Forces Cuts to Safety Net Programs.

Republicans are back at it again, proposing massive tax cuts that will only result in massive revenue shortfalls.

Now it's Jeb Bush's turn to offer up another crisis creating trickle down budget.

That means cutting social safety net programs like Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, food stamps, education, etc.. This is getting so old.

Economist Jared Bernstein wrote this about the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center analysis of Jeb Bush’s proposed tax cuts. The TPC’s findings:

First, the Bush plan lowers tax rates on both individuals and businesses, on both earnings and investment income. It repeals the estate tax, and shifts to a territorial system for multi-national corporations (meaning they don’t have to pay U.S. taxes on foreign earnings). 

TPC estimates that the plan would lose $6.8 trillion in the first decade relative to the current tax code, and $8.6 trillion in the next decade; that’s 2.6 and 2.3 percent of expected GDP over these years. 

And because this is another iteration of trickle down economics, the trillion dollar budget losses will be offset magically with cuts to discretionary spending, which really isn't discretionary at all.

Creating a Budget Crisis to Cut our Safety Nets: As the TPC pointed out:

If the deficit effect is as large as we estimate, government borrowing would push up interest rates and crowd out private investment, possibly offsetting some or all of the positive incentive effects. The campaign has said it intends to cut spending to offset any revenue loss from its tax cuts. Offsetting a deficit this large would require very large cuts in entitlement and discretionary spending.

Take a look at who benefits again in the chart. Big surprise? Still, conservative voters don't mind getting the tax cuts scraps. Behold the results of supply side economics:

Jeb offers black voters "hope," but for a price?

Jeb Bush offers "free stuff," like advice:

"...our message is one of hope and aspiration. It isn’t one of division, 'Get in line, we’ll take care of you with free stuff.' Our message is uplifting, that says, 'You can achieve earned success. We’re on your side.'"

Preventing Mass Killings: This really is the Republican plan to stop all the random mass killings plaguing the U.S..  You'll sleep easier now?

Jeb Bush is not pushing any of those highly popular common sense regulations that poll well. Just short of introducing a secret water filled pool of "precogs," Bush wants to set up a "precrime" system targeting people with "potential:"

AP: New gun control measures are not the way to prevent mass killings such as the shooting deaths of nine people in a South Carolina church ... Jeb Bush said Saturday identifying potentially violent people before they commit such crimes is a better approach than further restrictions on gun ownership.

"We as a society better figure out how we identify these folks long before they feel compelled to take up a gun and kill innocent people."

Yes, the plot behind the movie Minority Report is the answer. Like Ayn Rand's fictional plot line that envisions a free market system of government, Bush is borrowing from Philip Dick's popular science fiction book that uses precog mutants. 

Costly Health Care: While Republican whine and complain about costly high deductible plans on the health care exchanges, they're cluelessly pushing...I'm not kidding you, high deductible health care plans with no subsidies. Catastrophic insurance. Are they even listening to themselves talk?

Bush said he would repeal the health care law if elected, replacing it with high-deductible, low-premium catastrophic coverage. 

These plans start low but rise very quickly, I know, I had them for years. I saw increases of over 30% a year, making those premiums not so low. In fact, insurers gave you the alternative to lower your premium by increasing your deductible. Mine deductible climbed to over $11,000 before I got out.

Nice plan.

Walker's Preemptive War Policy = Iraq Invasion + (Bush Doctrine + Jeb Bush comment)!!!

Upside down and as confused as ever, career politician Scott Walker really doesn't see how his own preemptive war policy, known as the Bush Doctrine, got us into Iraq for all the wrong reasons in the first place.

That became obvious when Walker decided to attack Jeb Bush for saying he would still support invading Iraq knowing what he knows now. That's the thing about preemption, the facts and unintended consequences only become known later. That's what made Jeb's comment so horrific.

And that's what makes Walker's political one-upsmanship of Jeb Bush so ridiculous and dangerously clueless. jsonline:

Fresh off a trip to Israel, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker said that the U.S. invasion of Iraq doesn't hold up in hindsight. "Any president would have likely taken the same action Bush did with the information he had, even (then U.S. Sen.) Hillary Clinton voted for it, but knowing what we know now, we should not have gone into Iraq," Walker said in his statement. 

And like George Bush, Walker will make the case for preemptive war, not knowing what we will only know after the fact, having learned nothing from the past.

"We're not going to wait till they bring the fight to us. We're going to bring the fight to them and fight on their soil." - Walker

Jeb Bush and more ObamaCare talking point lunacy!

Reporters have had 4 years to brush up on the ins and outs of the individual health care marketplace, which makes up only 9% of all people with insurance. The Affordable Care Act is an attempt to control those runaway costs, offering lower group rates for individuals. Reporters are still clueless, so the public is led to believe Republican talking points that are never challenged, and don’t make any sense.

Here’s my look, point by point, at Jeb Bush's recent plan for reform:

"The greatest job suppressor in the so-called recovery that we've gone through is Obamacare," Bush said in a Q&A at the 2015 Iowa Ag Summit.

Does this sound like “suppression;” impressive job creation month after month (nearly 295,000 in February), and declining unemployment numbers (5.5% in Feb.). The only downside to the Obama recovery? Republican governors are using it to make themselves look good, when in fact they've done nothing, and in some cases, made things worse:

"And I think replacing Obamacare with a market oriented approach that is — where local and state input starts to drive the policies away from this top down system."

The deceptive “market oriented” mumbo jumbo assumes health care is a consumer product. IT’S NOT!!! State input means Republicans can force citizens to jump through hoops, some unconstitutional, and leave them at the mercy of profit drunk insurers; age limits, ridiculous income limits, time limits, stripped down catastrophic junk policies etc.

From there the potential Republican candidate offered … government-subsidized catastrophic coverage. "…relief (for) families in this country that if you have a hardship that goes way beyond your means of paying for it, that you have a — the government is there or an entity is there to help you deal with that."

A new and not so horrible idea? Except it makes people go broke first, never lowers the cost of care, never deals with why people are forced into bankruptcy in the first place, and leaves the plan open for future reductions by a more austere administration. 

Think about it, junk policies ("insurance you can afford") will push more people into this government paid for catastrophic safety net, straining the federal budget dramatically.

I hope reporters consider the above major issues when confronting big talking Republican snake oil salesmen about their private free market plan for health care. There’s a reason why every other industrialized country in the world never picked a for-profit privatized system. It has nothing to do with socialism. It has everything to do with the repugnant and morally vacuous idea that someone would even think of profiting from the sick and suffering.  Not in America.

After nearly collapsing into another Great Depression, we're all supposed to have picked up the pieces by now, according to former Gov. Jeb Bush. Come on, with all the jobs lost to off shoring, stagnant wages, union busting and growing income disparity, what's holding everyone up? What a family of assholes.
