I can now finally post this great Green Bay Packers bit on SNL, which after a experiencing few more injuries during the Cardinals game, was timely:

If you thought you fully appreciated just how crazy Aaron Rodgers' hail-mary throw was at the end of the Green Bay Packers' win over the Detroit Lions, we bet you'll gain an even greater appreciation for it after seeing this video, taken from the stands along the sideline. This is probably the best video we've found that shows the true height of Aaron Rodgers' bomb to the end zone. As you can see, the ball nearly hits one of the beams that support the Ford Field roof.

Scott Walker to blame for Packers Loss!!!

When the Packers needed to take it to the next level, who flipped the momentum? Scott Walker..."RELAX"...really?

Cheese ban aimed at Packers fans not going over so well....

CNN: One Seattle suburb have taken pre-game rivalry to the next level by banning "possession of and/or consumption of cheese or cheese flavored products."

For those not making the connection between cheese and this NFL matchup, Douglas Schulze, the city manager of Bainbridge Island, Washington, spells it out in his executive order.

"On Sunday, January 18, 2015, the Seattle Seahawks opponent in the NFC Championship game will be the Green Bay Packers, aka Cheeseheads," the order states. "Fans of the Green Bay Packers are frequently seen wearing obnoxious wedge-shaped foam hats painted yellow." It is "due to this relationship" between Packers fans and cheese that the ban was enacted.

The ban only applies to employees at city hall and only on Friday, but Schulze has a plan for anyone who defies the ban and comes, pun intended, packing.

Despite taking numerous shots at Illinois and Chicago in my previous life as a radio DJ, I now love the windy city and the people there. I can also identify with frustrated Bears fans, remembering the decades long struggle by our own Green Bay Packers. The Bears were a formidable opponent.

People are loving LeRoy Butler's support of Jason Collin's:

CNN:jsonline: Former Green Bay Packers great LeRoy Butler made an appearance on "Anderson Cooper's 360" on Thursday. Butler was scheduled to make a paid appearance this summer at a Wisconsin church, but the church canceled his appearance after he tweeted a message of support for NBA player Jason Collins, who on Monday declared he was gay. The church told Butler he needed to remove his tweet, apologize and ask for God's forgiveness. When he declined, the church canceled his appearance.

A Packer with Class....

I thought this thank you ad in two local newspapers was an incredibly classy thing to do by now former Packer Greg Jennings:

Lockout ends for Officials...a little late.

NY Times: N.F.L. and Referees Union Agree on Deal to End Lockout

The National Football League reached agreement on a new labor deal with its game officials late Wednesday night, ending a lockout that forced unprepared replacement officials onto the field, creating three weeks of botched calls, acute criticism, furious coaches and players, and a blemish – however temporary — on the integrity of the country’s most popular sport.

The agreement came 48 hours after the nadir of the league’s experiment with replacement officials, when an incorrect call on the final play of the Monday night game cost the Green Bay Packers a victory against the Seattle Seahawks. That nationally televised debacle spurred two days of furious and lengthy negotiations against the backdrop of immense public pressure and scorn, most of it directed at the league.

I was literally yelling at the TV. The kids came into the room to see what got dad all worked up. And don't get me started on the play by play guys comments, that didn't make things any easier. Steve Young's passionate plea for saving the game of football was the one bright spot.

But, taking a different angle completely, we're now hearing from the Lingerie Football League. They're saying the refs are were so bad, their own league booted a few crews for incompetence.

Fans may be asking, how did this ever happen:

Fox6: The final decision is only going to fuel debate about the replacement officials coming off a weekend filled with disputed calls.

“Don’t ask me a question about the officials,” Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy said. “I’ve never seen anything like that in all my years in football. I know it’s been a wild weekend in the NFL and I guess we’re part of it now.”

From a league I know little about, but hope to see sometime, comes this statement:

The Lingerie Football League released a statement late Monday night saying that it fired several officiating crews that are now working as replacement refs in the NFL. LFL Commissioner Mitchell Mortaza wrote that those crews were fired “due to … on-field incompetent officiating.”

“Because of the LFL’s perception it is that much more critical for us to hire officiating crews that are competent, not only for the credibility of our game but to keep our athletes safer. Due to several on-field incompetent officiating we chose to part ways with with a couple crews which apparently are now officiating in the NFL. We have a lot of respect for our officials but we felt the officiating was not in line with our expectations. We have not made public comment to date because we felt it was not our place to do so. However in light of tonight’s event, we felt it was only fair that NFL fans knew the truth as to who are officiating these games.”

Packers Back Recall....

What's not to like about the Packers..? Being an owner myself, I admit to being a little biased. From the Huffington Post:

The news that Mitt Romney got the endorsement of dumb Ron Johnson was a surprise, since Romney brought us the Affordable Care mandate and the reform plan itself, the one big reason Johnson goes ballistic and entered politics in the first place. He really is dumb. 

   

But sadly, it looks like a former Packer is a crazy Rick Santorum backer:

RTT News: Meanwhile, rival Rick Santorum hopes that public support from former Green Bay Packers defensive end Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila can help him spring an upset on Romney.

"Football taught me a lot," Gbaja-Biamila said. "One of the game's greatest lessons is that we play to win, and we play until it is over. I am endorsing Rick Santorum for president because he is a solid leader that represents the timeless values that made America good and prosperous. Rick Santorum is also the only person who can beat Barack Obama in November. While some may want to declare the game over, the reality is, it's not even half-time yet. 'Game on!'"

Packers force fan to burn his unlucky couch? Yeah, so?

Angry Packers Fan Faces Jail Time for Burning Couch After Big Loss

Big deal! But possible jail time for a typically rabid fans response? Give me a break:

Waukesha Patch: Kurt Lufter, 22, was charged with disorderly conduct in Waukesha County Circuit Court. He faces up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted of creating a disturbance when he burned a couch on his street as the game ended, according to a criminal complaint.

Police were dispatched to a fire in the middle of the 1000 block of Anoka Avenue at 7:03 p.m. Jan. 15. They found a couch on fire in the middle of the street.

Police contacted Lufter, who told an officer that he was upset when he realized the Packers were going to lose. Lufter told the officer he had friends help him move the couch into the street, which is when he poured gasoline on the couch and lit it on fire. “(Lufter) indicated that once he started the couch on fire, he realized how huge the fire had become and he figured that police would be responding,” the complaint states.

I just love this story. I just hope this guy isn't against the Walker recall.

Packers Fans Shovel Out Lambeau Snow....

This is so wonderfully Wisconsin. Just take a look at these Packers fans shoveling out Lambeau Field, like it was an all expense paid vacation. There's really is nothing like it. I've lived in Wisconsin all my life, grew up in Milwaukee, and I'm still fascinated with our accent. WKOW 27 News:

Packers America's Team!!

The only team owned by the people, and not a wealthy elitist, happens to be America's favorite.

jsonline: A new national survey released Wednesday has found what Green Bay Packers fans have been saying for years: The Pack is "America's Team."

Public Policy Polling survey respondents nationwide were asked to name their most favorite team in the National Football League.

A total of 22% said the Green Bay Packers, far outdistancing the second most favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys, which got 11%. After the Cowboys, 8% each named the Chicago Bears, the New York Giants and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

And.....Packers QB Aaron Rodgers finished as the top vote-getter in fan balloting for the Pro Bowl, nudging out Patriots QB Tom Brady by less than 150,000 votes.


And...Channel3000: Of the most-watched TV shows this fall, the Green Bay Packers have been a part of two of the top four shows. And three of the top 10 shows.


And...Aaron Rodgers has been named the 2011 Male Athlete of the Year by AP.
