Republicans admit, they're afraid of owning disastrous TrumpCare!!!

What I've been saying the last three years about the Republicans failed plans for replacing ObamaCare have been summed up in one day by the Republicans themselves.
The Post’s Mike DeBonis has obtained leaked audio of Republicans at a closed-door session airing serious anxieties about the GOP’s strategy to repeal and replace Obamacare. What’s remarkable is how decisively their specific comments in private undercut the party’s public, carefully-crafted talking points about the battle to come ... they basically admit in various ways that Republicans will be responsible for the mess that repealing the law — which would probably be done on a delay while Republicans come up with a replacement — is expected to make ...

For instance:
Senators and House members expressed a range of concerns about the task ahead: how to prepare a replacement plan that can be ready to launch at the time of repeal; how to avoid deep damage to the health insurance market; how to keep premiums affordable for middle-class families; even how to avoid the political consequences of defunding Planned Parenthood ...

“We’d better be sure that we’re prepared to live with the market we’ve created” with repeal, said Rep. Tom McClintock (R-Calif.). “That’s going to be called Trumpcare. Republicans will own that lock, stock and barrel, and we’ll be judged in the election less than two years away.”

The notion that Republicans will have “created” the state of the market that results after repeal, and that they will “own” that outcome, is refreshing ... Republicans have employed a series of overwrought formulations to suggest that, because Obamacare is already allegedly collapsing, Republicans are merely stepping in with a “rescue mission.”

The Republican rhetoric about its supposed collapse and implosion is just nonsense ... see this piece by Jonathan Cohn ... the ACA marketplaces are generally stable ... or absurd (the notion of a death spiral is belied by robust enrollment) ... the most immediate threat to the law is Republican efforts to gum up the works ... that leads insurers to exit the marketplaces because of uncertainty that any GOP replacement will ever materialize.

Also note this from the leaked audio: Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) warned his colleagues that the estimated budget savings from passing the Obamacare repeal bill — which could approach a half-trillion dollars — are needed to fund the costs of setting up a replacement. “This is going to be what we’ll need to be able to move to that transition,” he said.

And this: Rep. Tom MacArthur (R-N.J.) also worried that the plans under GOP consideration could eviscerate coverage for the roughly 20 million Americans now covered through state and federal marketplaces, as well as those covered under Medicaid expansion: “We’re telling those people that we’re not going to pull the rug out from under them, and if we do this too fast, we are in fact going to pull the rug out from under them.”

To reiterate, it is useful to see Republicans wrestling with the fact that repeal (and replace) will bring major challenges and could produce a terrible outcome in humanitarian terms. But we have to ask: Given that Republicans have supposedly been preparing for the chance to repeal (and replace) the ACA for years, why do they seem so surprised by this?

Trump and Paul Ryan slap together 3 week repeal and TrumpCare replacement plan...what could go wrong?

Remember when Republicans complained the Democrats hastily put together the Affordable Care Act in  just one year?

Well, they’re about to pass their own plan in a few weeks.
AP: President-elect Donald Trump pushed Congress Tuesday for speed and coordination, to act swiftly to repeal President Barack Obama's health care law, and follow up quickly with a replacement. House Speaker Paul Ryan, after talking with Trump, announced that the House would aim to take both steps "concurrently. We're going to use every tool at our disposal, through legislation, through regulation, to bring replace concurrent along with repeal, so that we can save people from this mess."
Actually the Affordable Care Act was a Democratic plan that was a century in the making.

Guess you can't say that about the TrumpCare plan:
Trum (told) the Times that the repeal should be "probably sometime next week," and "the replace will be very quickly or simultaneously, very shortly thereafter."
Always remember what Paul Ryan promised:

I can't wait to see this crumble. Here's Huffington Post's Jeffrey Young on what repeal will mean.

Remember...Trump/Republicans Lied Promising Lower Health Care Prices and more comprehensive plans!!!

They're going on record and they're going to be wrong...big time.

First, let's take a look at one of Trump's biggest promises, really big promises; lowering the price of health care:

Here's another "promise" to lower the cost of health care, the free market way, and get better coverage? Didn't Republicans say ObamaCare coverage was already to comprehensive? Note: The Huffington Post included "Dubious Claim" in the title, not in paragraph 8 of the article:
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy Makes Dubious Claim That More People Will Have Health Insurance Without Obamacare. And coverage will be better. And people with pre-existing conditions will still get coverage.  Asked how Republicans could be confident premiums wouldn’t skyrocket if they repealed the 2010 Affordable Care Act, McCarthy told reporters it came down to a “philosophical difference of belief.”
“We believe with more people into the market, you get greater choice and that the demand is higher. You allow those that can’t afford it to enter the same market where they have more options, that the price will go down.”
Wow, I know health care, and I have no idea what he's talking about.

I'd like to point out that when you need health care services, one important consumer element is missing; you can't say, no, that's too expensive.

Paul Ryan added to the hyperbolic claim list, by promising more comprehensive converage, and allowing preexisting conditions. You heard it here. WPR (audio):

In an interview with WPR’s Central Time, Ryan emphasized plans for healthcare reform, particularly replacing the Affordable Care Act,
Ryan: "So that we can actually get people more choices, lower prices, so that everyone can get comprehensive, quality healthcare regardless of whether you have a pre-existing condition or not," he said.

Trump Promises No Premium Increases Under His Health Care Plan!!!

If Trump did manage to win, I want everyone to remember this flat out promise from Trump on doing away with premium increases:
“In the future if I’m president, there won’t be ObamaCare so you won’t have to worry about it,” Trump said of the premium increases.

Got that? Just so we’re clear, Trump said we won’t have to worry about premium increases. And just like Obama’s promise that people could keep their old plans, we'll have to scream bloody murder if Trump’s promise fails.

Trump wants to go back to the old system, just like Paul Ryan and Dumb Ron Johnson, who long for the good old days of  20% to 50% increases a year.

Believe it or not, here's Ron Johnson actually saying how he'd go back, an admission few Republicans would dare say in public. His debate opponent Russ Feingold ran with it:

Trump’s plan is like the GOP plan pushed by Paul Ryan. And guess what, according to analysts, it stinks. You were warned:
An analysis from the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget found that 21 million people would lose their health insurance under Trump’s plan. Only about 1 million people would gain coverage under his replacement, the study found … longtime Republican ideas ... allowing insurance to be sold across state lines, encouraging health savings accounts and making premiums tax deductible.

“In the future if I’m president, there won’t be ObamaCare so you won’t have to worry about it,” Trump said of the premium increases.
