Republicans want to ban junk food for needy, but defend to death junk food for school lunches.

No wonder conservative voters pick one or two easy issues to focus on, generalities like “freedom and liberty” and “cut taxes.”  If they tried to make sense out of the party’s actual direction and basic principles, they’d go crazy, maybe even vote Democratic.

While cookie cutter republicans across the country push their one size fits all nutritional food stamp check list they say protects against wasting taxpayer money on junk food, they’re gleefully doing just the opposite with school lunches, pushing taxpayer spending on whatever mush they want to dish out to our kids. The Northwestern:
(Rep. Glenn) Grothman, who serves on the House Education and Workforce Committee, got the chance to solicit feedback about federal nutrition guidelines and funding for school lunches.

“I think the people here believe — and I agree with them — that we shouldn't have those rules,” he said. “We should just be able to give the money to the state or give the money to the schools, and they would know what to give the children for lunch. We don’t have to pay a bunch of high-priced people, complete with paperwork, in Washington to micromanage what you’re having for lunch.”
Let's not beat around the bush; the Republican food stamp guidelines are more about reinforcing stereotypes of the poor than any real concern for the cost or nutrition.

Personal NOTE: The banned food makes up over half of my own weekly dinner offerings. And when I was struggling early on in my youth, the banned items made up almost all of the items. But foods are better now. All the things I buy to make our families meals have at least one ingredient banned by republicans.

So why can't you buy food cheaply in quantity, choose to eat healthy pizzas, try to make decent spaghetti sauce (spices are banned), enjoy different flavored canned beans, what’s wrong with this picture. And what about potatoes? Heck, I eat one daily for breakfast mixed with other vegetables…they’re called home fries for gods sake.

This was a list put together by politicians who haven’t cooked or shopped a day in their lives.

Muskego-Norway School Districts decide to serve Kids Sh*t for lunch! They love their local kids fat, unhealthy.

It's mind boggling to think that school district officials think they can hide behind the banner of "local control" as an excuse to serve crappy food for lunch. jsonline:
"We believe that proper food nutrition and meal portion guidelines are best decided at a local level," said Rick Petfalski, School Board president for the Muskego-Norway School District.
And see if you believe this one…
The Central High School District of Westosha also decided to leave the lunch program this spring. "We're not trying to fatten up our kids," district's administrator, Scott Pierce, said "We're trying to give them food they like."
Sounds like a lot of sugary, fatty, salty foods to me. Have at it.

This has nothing to do with kids not eating their food and throwing it away, they can go hungry just so long, nope this has more to do with politics and the visceral hatred for Obama...Michelle specifically. This is a national movement encouraged by Republicans who blame overreach and big government for making our kids healthier. The horror.

Even worse, Scott Walker could care less about what our kids eat, because we've got no standards whatsoever:
Wisconsin is one of only 12 states that have not adopted any nutrition standard for its schools on a state-level basis.
But wait a minute, Republican legislators passed a bill banning junk food from the food stamp program. They said it was a waste of taxpayer money. Yet it's okay to feed out kids this stuff?
Rick Petfalski, School Board president for the Muskego-Norway School District: “By leaving the program we will not be required to follow these onerous guidelines, pushed by and large by Michelle Obama, who last I checked has been elected by no one.”

Michelle Malkin is hideous, petty, and loving it...

Still struggling to usurp Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin's over-the-top trash heap of outrageous writings never quite hits its mark.  Although she tries and tries:

As I've mentioned before, healthy lunches for our kids is "control freak" outrageous and just more big government liberalism, but GOP healthy food stamp requirements and drug testing? Make up your confused conservative minds.

GOP goes to War against Healthy School Lunches.

My god these people are hypocrites.

1. Before I get to the school lunch war, I'd like to point out another bit of hypocrisy: Republicans in Wisconsin increased taxes on the poor by cutting the Earned Income Tax Credit and Homestead Credit because, as they stated, the poor were getting money back they never earned. Yet on a national level, Republicans who oppose an increase in the minimum wage say instead we should increase the Earned Income Tax Credit and Homestead Credit. Huh? Anyone else notice this?

2. Republicans were for Nutritional Food before they were against it: Wisconsin Republicans just hated to watch food stamp recipients spend taxpayer dollars on junk food in the grocery line, so they came up with a banned food list that even included our state product cheese. Yet on a national level, Republicans are throwing a tantrum over eliminating junk food in our school cafeterias. They even made it personal against Michelle Obama. Huh?

Republicans don't have an agenda, they have an offensive attacks that targets Democratic ideas that might win constituent votes. Check out this compilation of videos that tells the whole story:
