Republican Doom & Gloom predictions about Obama Economy Wrong. Now in Charge with all new predictions, will they succeed!!?

On the major issues facing our country, Republicans were flat out wrong in their now wacky predictions of doom and gloom. But those predictions did sour the public on Obama and the progress he made restoring the economy. It also got Trump elected.

Now these same geniuses are in charge, again predicting a Republican utopia of plentiful jobs, energy, cheaper and better health care, and world wide peace through brother Russia.

Suckers. Think Progress made a list of what now read like Onion stories:

1. Gas was supposed to cost $6.60 per gallon.In March 2012, on the floor of the United States Senate, Mike Lee (R-UT) predicted that if Obama was reelected gas would cost $6.60 per by the end of Obama’s second term. Newt Gingrich, running for the GOP nomination, predicted that if Obama was reelected he would push gas to “$10 a gallon.” Gingrich said he would reduce gas prices dramatically by reversing Obama’s energy policies. Lee, Gingrich and others criticized — the rejection of Keystone XL pipeline, more EPA regulation and limiting drilling on public land — have not gotten in the way of historically low prices. 

2. Unemployment was supposed to be stuck at over 8%: In September 2012, Mitt Romney predicted that if Obama is reelected “you’re going to see chronic high unemployment continue four years or longer.” Romney pledged that, if elected, he could bring the unemployment rate down to 6% by January 2017. The unemployment rate currently stands at 4.6% and has been under 6% since September 2014.

3. The stock market was supposed to crash: Immediately after Obama won reelection in November 2012, many commenters, including Donald Trump, predicted that the stock market was toast. The Dow Jones Industrial Average currently stands at 19,762.60 and is up over 46% since Obama was reelected. 

4. The entire U.S. economy was supposed to collapse: Rush Limbaugh predicted that

“the country’s economy is going to collapse if Obama is re-elected.” Limbaugh was confident in his prediction: “There’s no if about this. And it’s gonna be ugly. It’s gonna be gut wrenching, but it will happen.” The economic free-fall would begin, according to Limbaugh, because “California is going to declare bankruptcy” and Obama would force states like Texas to “bail them out.” California currently has a $2.8 billion budget surplus. Limbaugh added, “I know mathematics, and I know economics. I know history. I know socialism, statism, Marxism, I know where it goes. I know what happens at the end of it.” Limbaugh said the economic apocalypse could take “a year and a half, two years, three years.” It’s been four years and two months since Limbaugh’s prediction. The U.S. economy grew at a robust 3.5% in the 3rd quarter of 2016.

Trump thanks Gingrich for Misogynist attack on Megyn Kelly, and the party's Two different Universes (ah, one is real).

That Gingrich meltdown with Megyn Kelly has been getting a lot press, but many of the clips don't show what really happened, how it all built up. Gingrich affirmed the Republican Party's angry white misogynist takeover, and Megyn Kelly brought it all out into the open:

Two Universes, Two Realities: Remember when we were told by Republicans, "we create our own reality," by a Bush aid trashing the reporter Ron Suskind's "reality based community." 

The aide said that guys like me were ‘’in what we call the reality-based community,’’ which he defined as people who ‘’believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’’ I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ‘’That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’’ he continued. ‘’We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.’’

In that same Kelly interview, Gingrich set the tone for that new reality, guided by Trump; an "alternative universe." 

Gingrich: "The next two weeks is a contest between two parallel universes."  

Gingrich: "...I just told you we have two alternative universes right now." 

Kelly: "You say two alternative universes....you tell me if that's all made up."

Gingrich: "No, I think they're two alternative universes."

Rampell: "I think the best part of all of this is when the guy who had the affair, who was supposed to be replaced by someone who had an affair, but instead was replace by somebody who was a pedophile who also happen to have impeached someone who had an affair, is accusing this journalist of being fascinated by sex. I mean there's a comical lack of self awareness." 

Newt takes down Mitt, and chances of Republican presidential win.

Romney, during his time as Massachusetts governor, vetoed funds to expand the provision of kosher food for Bay State retirees…"Romney cut off kosher food to elderly Jews on Medicare."

Romney for a 2005 decision as governor to require Roman Catholic hospitals to provide emergency contraception, which many Catholics believe is a form of abortion, to rape victims.

"The conservative movement is not going to sit back and say, 'Oh yes, let's let Wall Street and Mitt Romney buy the election,'" Gingrich said. "So you're going to see a real grassroots fight. It will be people power vs. Goldman Sachs and Mitt Romney."

"How can a guy who's a great manager not file 23 foreign holdings last year when he filed?"

"Romney has proved to be a disgraceful and despicable candidate. He has no character," Rick Tyler, a former Gingrich aide said. 

So there you have it, Mitt doesn’t even measure up by Republican standards, which are mighty low right now. Maybe Mitt needs the sympathetic shoulder of a corporate person to lean on. See Huffington Post for article.

Don't Question Authority, Newt Bashes Media. Crowd cheers their Golden Idol.

As Republicans fine tune their new conservative fascist movement in the presidential debates, it seems the television crowd has become desensitized to that threat over the last 5 months, and are now nodding in agreement that “leaders” are above such “destructive, vicious” topics.

Has anybody else noticed this frightening show of repressive power?

Newt Gingrich tapped back into the deep reservoir of resentment in American conservatism Thursday night by lecturing a debate moderator … CNN's John King (who) … chose to ask Gingrich about his ex-wife with his very first question of the night, "I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office," Gingrich said. "And I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that" … the crowd in the debate hall rose and gave Gingrich a standing ovation … "To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary, a significant question in a presidential campaign, is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine. I am, frankly, astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate," he said.

Gingrich went back to hitting the media, saying that ABC News didn't quote his friends because "they would like to attack any Republican."

If there weren't enough BS in the above Gingrich rant, Newt gave them one more chuck of red meat:

"I'm tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama by attacking Republicans," Gingrich concluded, drawing more enthusiastic cheers inside the hall.
 And Austin Barbour, one of Romney's national finance chairmen, said that "a candidate's personal background should and is considered by voters."

"Personal principles matter to voters. Don't attack the moderator for trying to let the voters hear your response on issues that matter to voters," Barbour told HuffPost.

Newt the Dictator continues to take Constitutional heat for Persecuting Judges.

Here's more on the most outrageous moment during the last Republican presidential debate, when Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann supported calling judges into to congress to answer questions about their decision making.

We have Doug Brinkley and Jonathan Turley commenting on the constitutional question and the dangerous nature of even suggesting one branch of government weaken the other. I threw in former congressman J.C. Watts to show how easy it was for fellow conservatives to agree with something so dictatorial. It's the way they think. Period.

Newt "BJ" Gingrich?

We've all been to public parks, but how about the ones owned and operated by corporations? What's the admission price?

Newt Gingrich wasn't the first one to repeat the ridiculous line about "corporate parks." Many critics of the Occupy movement have said the same thing. Gingrich to Restructure Country. Is there anything they don’t hate?

The new “Contract” is money based, not citizens based.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is calling for an overhaul of the way Americans pay taxes, buy health care and contribute to the Social Security system.  Gingrich mapped out the 10-point plan, which he's calling The 21st Century Contract with America … Key elements include:

1. repealing President Barack Obama's health care plan
2. giving taxpayers the option of paying a flat tax and
3. allowing young people to opt out of Social Security.

Can you imagine the instant hit Social Security would take? It would inflict a fatal blow to the program, but slowly? It would also recreate another crisis and its return, but at a massive human cost.

He also called for curtailing the power of the courts. "There is no judicial supremacy," Gingrich said. "We are going to have a big, big fight about the role of the judicial branch.

Three equal branches, gone? What Gingrich might have been talking about; should the Supreme Court be able to overturn law and have that power over the legislative branch. The branches are equal aren’t they?

Gingrich Blames MSNBC of Dividing Presidential Republican Tea Party Candidates: Victims All!!!

The question was an easy one; Which is best, the state with the highest rate of uninsured citizens like in Texas, or Massachusetts, with the highest rate of coverage but an individual mandate?

Good ole' Newt Gingrich forgot it was a presidential debate, and accused the "media" of trying to get the candidates to fight with each other. Poor babies.

Newt supposedly wants to exempt the candidates from media scrutiny, the fourth estate, so the election in 2011 is again devoid of actual vetted issues. Instead, that damn media wants real answers.



Perry picked on it right away by saying "we're not here to fight." Right, you're there to play the victim of your own words.

Is Newt Gingrich the Rising Star of the Republicans?

In another week or so we’ll know if Newt Gingrich is announcing his candidacy for presidency, but what remains to be seen is if the religious conservatives of the Republicans will whole-heartedly endorse him. If you’re wondering what they could possibly have against Gingrich, especially considering that his claim to fame is being Time Magazine’s Person of the Year for his role in ending 40 years of Democratic majority in the House of Representatives in 1995 and taking on the role of Speaker of the House, he has been through two divorces, and is currently married to the woman he was having a clandestine affair with even as he aired his outspoken criticism of Bill Clinton’s dalliances with Monica Lewinsky.

With the conservatives going on the overdrive when it comes to issues like marriage, abortion and the Church, will they be able to accept someone like Gingrich who has led a pretty liberal lifestyle? He was married at 19 to his much older high school Mathematics teacher, had an affair during the marriage, divorced his wife as she was recovering from cancer surgery, remarried the woman he was seeing soon after, had a second affair soon after with a staff member of the House of Representatives who was 23 years his junior, and is now married to this woman Callista Bisek.

Apparently it is Bisek’s faith that is giving Gingrich hope that he can win the hearts of the Republicans first, before turning his hopes to the nation. He has converted to Catholicism in 2009, and he and his wife have been involved in the making of a movie about Pope John Paul II and how he was a significant force in the downfall of communism in Poland. But the big question that hangs over Gingrich’s head is if his candidacy for presidency will be endorsed by the Republicans if he does announce his decision to run for the nation’s highest and perhaps the world’s most powerful office.

Will the Republicans be willing to take a risk and put forward a candidate who does not have the vocal backing and/or tacit support of the religious conservatives? Or will they have learned a lesson from John McCain’s failure and go with someone whose past is not tainted by scandal as Gingrich’s is? Are his speeches on how America is becoming a secularized society where God is being driven out of public life, enough to raise fervor in conservative minds and make them forget the indiscretions and scandals of his past? Or will there be skeptics who don’t accept his candidacy and view his recent religious views as a sham to worm his way to the presidency?

Considering that the man is a political whiz and respected by many Republicans for his intellect and knowledge of government, maybe the party will prefer him to the likes of Sarah Palin.

Newt Gingrich won't let liberals interview him.

Will voters buy into to this new scheme. Is this just another way of making sure the public never really questions authority, our know-it-all politicians, as they glide to easy platformless victories?

That's what New Gingrich is saying in the clip below. He basically can't take the heat. Not only was there never a time Olbermann and Matthews hosted an event Newt is refering too, but Ed Schultz points out how Democrats, like Obama, are expected to face tough questioning. Juan Williams firing Riles GOP to ask for Investigation, defunding Public Radio. Defending free Speech?

This is ridiculous.

In broadcasting, getting fired is never pretty or fair. Juan Williams is whining now, but he should ask his conservative friends if they want public radio disseminating controversial political opinion. How can they complain about public radio's attempts to present a balanced view? They can't have it both ways. And what about the free market? Just because it has public support, doesn't mean that it's not competing with the private sector. Another phony issue.

And yet polls indicate Americans are willing to give congress back to a bunch of reactionary, wedge issue, petty authoritarian Republican politicians. Only Fox News would solicit the following reactions from their pundits:

News analyst Juan Williams' firing from National Public Radio for comments he made about being nervous when flying alongside devout Muslims has sparked a public outcry that includes calls for investigations and a cut in public funding to the broadcaster.

"I think the U.S. Congress should investigate NPR and consider cutting off their money," said Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who is also a Fox News contributor. Gingrich called the firing "an act of total censorship." "This isn't the first time we have had serious concerns about some of Juan's public comments," she wrote.

Republican Rep. Peter King went further, calling on Congress to nix any federal money NPR gets "because of its indefensible bias."

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, called on Congress to stop cutting checks to NPR and said he will no longer accept interview requests from NPR ... "NPR has discredited itself as a forum for free speech and a protection of the First Amendment rights.

NPR President and CEO Vivian Schiller sent an internal memo claiming that the remarks he made on Fox News' "The O'Reilly Factor" weren't the only problem -- he was canned because he's become a pundit rather than an analyst.

Cooler heads defended Williams from the left:

"I don't think he should have been fired, because, in fact ... lots of people have this idea," said host Whoopi Goldberg. Host Barbara Walters said Williams perhaps should have been chastised, not fired because he was on the show to give his perspective. "I think they were very wrong," she said of NPR.

Free Press, a nonprofit advocating media reform, denounced the calls to defund NPR. "It is time to stop playing politics with our nation's public media system," Free Press President Josh Silve said in a written statement. "Calling for Congress to defund NPR is nothing more than political opportunism by public figures who have built a career on such shenanigans," he said. "Regardless of what you think about Juan Williams' dismissal, calling for the defunding of NPR is like asking for the death penalty in small claims court."

Newt's Party of Paychecks rubs-it-in to people with no paychecks.

Newt is such a uniter.

…Giving Aid and Comfort to the Enemy?

For months, far right-wing conservatives have led a hateful campaign against the proposed Park 51 Islamic community center near Ground Zero in New York City. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is even claiming it will be a launching pad for "Sharia law" in America. In an interview with Newsweek magazine, Zabihullah, a Taliban spokesman said, by "preventing this mosque from being built, America is doing us a big favor." The, "...more mosques you stop, the more jihadis we will get."

Gingrich's hysterical campaign about the Park 51 community center is hurting
Americans in two ways. First, he succeeded in turning a majority of Republican
Americans against their own President based on a lie.

Second, he's giving aid and comfort to recruiters for the very extremist in Islam whose credibility would be most diminished by the building of this community center.
