Tauntaun Sleeping Bags, Unicorn Meat?

I tumbled across the NY Times story below and spent the next 2 hours laughing at the fake/or not fake products and gift ideas. I've included a few pictures here, and the Canned Unicorn Meat story that lured me in:

As ThinkGeek needs to up the ante each year, in 2010 it decided to create a product called Canned Unicorn Meat. The tag line for this new delicacy? “Pâté is passé. Unicorn, the new white meat.” It promised to be an “excellent source of sparkles!” It was, of course, fake.

Although it is probably clear to most nerds and wildlife experts, the National Pork Board, an organization devoted to pork and related businesses and farms, saw a threat to the national brand of pork, otherwise known as “the other white meat.” So the organization sent ThinkGeek a cease-and-desist letter.

ThinkGeek published the letter and offered this apology on its Web site to the board: “We’d like to publicly apologize to the N.P.B. for the confusion over unicorn and pork — and for their awkward extended pause on the phone after we had explained our unicorn meat doesn’t actually exist.”
Some of this stuff is just to good to be fake!

Scott Brown a Real Sat. Night Live Distraction, Obama v GOP

This bit from Saturday Night Live is so over the top, even I had to laugh. Sen. Scott Brown never got better press.

Washington Post: In case you missed it, "Saturday Night Live" took on Massachusetts Sen.-elect Scott Brown this weekend, depicting the one-time Cosmo model as an irresistible flirt. (Mad Men star Jon Hamm played the senator.) One by one, Democratic lawmakers are driven to distracted by fantasies about the new Republican.

Brown himself approved: "Thank goodness I like a good laugh," he told National Review Online. He said Hamm "did a great job."

Weekend Update nailed the Obama meeting with the Houses top Republicans.

Conan Brings Opposites William Shatner and Sarah Palin Together.

If you missed this bizarre moment in political humor, check out the clip below or hulu.com for the Shatner/Palin appearance on Conan's show.

According to dbtechno.com:
On the Friday addition of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Sarah Palin made a guest appearance out of the blue. She was on the show to defend herself against the forever aging William Shatner who has made numerous appearances on the show, mocking the former Alaskan Governor. It is not hard to make fun of Palin ... She read specific parts of Shatner’s autobiography, including a part where he talks about visiting with an elephant while in his underwear.

William Shatner on a specially selected part of Palin’s “Going Rogue:" “I looked down to see the moose’s eyeballs lying in his palm, still warm from the critter’s head.”

Both left the stage after the show on good terms according to sources, as they left arm in arm. After the show, Conan stated: “It’s good to finally see those two together,
Palin tried but failed to shed humor on a humorous part of Shatner's book. Not an easy thing to do.

Do the Limbo Rush...how low can you go!

This was just a natural for an eventual song parody. Here's the background description from Air America on the new dance craze, "Do the Limbo Rush."
Rush Limbaugh is not just upset about the fact that Obama bowed to the Japanese emporer, he's also upset about the WAY he bowed. Says Rush, "Obama blew the bow. They're calling it 'a bow-and-crotch shot,' because if you're going to bow, you bow, but you don't shake hands. If you bow, you keep your hands at your side, you bend a little bit forward from the waist, and you bop right back up." Jack Rice's crew heard this clip and realized that it reminded them of a classic dance song.
