Anyone else have a problem with lousy employers? I suppose conservatives will applaud this sick bad behavior, but really, should we let them get away with this?
This isn't anything new. Sears tried this back in the 1980's, Wal-Mart did the same thing so they could send employees into state Medicaid programs. And with the rising cost of health care, regardless of the Affordable Care Act, companies continue to playing this game.
Now their just being more arrogant about it. While Darden Restaurants think they can portray Obamacare as the heavy here, it's really shows how blatantly cruel and inhumane business can be. They're willing to kick people off to the side of the road, and off their health care, for the almighty dollar and game the system. Companies will leave the cost of caring for the sick to the public, and rake in all the profits. Republicans don't seem to mind getting duped.

Biz Journal: Darden Restaurants, the company that operates Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants in Atlanta and nationwide, is experimenting with limiting hours of some employees to avoid health care requirements introduced in the Affordable Care Act.
The pilot project is only occurring at a “select number” of restaurants, the Orlando Sentinelsaid, while the restaurant company determines whether it is a viable option. Under a provision of Obama Care that will take effect in 2014, all large companies must offer health care to employees who work 30 hours or more per week.
If widely implemented, according to observers, the plan to limit worker hours could result in less-skilled workers and a higher turnover.
this is not true bc at darden companies even if you work less than 30 hours you are offered health insurance along with many other great benefits i know this bc i am an employee there who works less than 30 hours and i could not ask for a better job and one more thing they have not stopped building either our store just opened and we are opening more.
