Rep. Jeff Stone Admits Poll Tax Tactics, and Steve Krieser should be Fired for Voter ID Suppression.

You know what amazes me? How Republicans can say and do anything they want, and still walk away with their job or integrity intact. What the hell does it take for conservative voters to say enough is enough. As adults, we wouldn't take this from our kids, so why would we give a pass to these school yard bullies?

In the following article, Rep. Jeff Stone admits unashamedly that his intent of the voter ID law was to make people ask for the free one, or else pay. No little desk top sign touting free voter ID's to those who qualify, no helpful DMV employee helping grandma on a fixed income save a few bucks. Looks to me like the state GOP wants to make it look like the program didn't cost taxpayers a arm and a leg.
jsonline: Here's our vote for dumbest memo issued by a state bureaucrat this summer: On July 1, Steve Krieser sent a memo to Division of Motor Vehicles employees telling them to not tell customers that they can get identification cards for free as allowed by the state's new voter ID law. Maybe Krieser is unfamiliar with the concept of customer service. Democrats and at least one Republican reacted angrily to Krieser's move…

…but Rep. Jeff Stone (R-Greendale), a lead author of the voter ID law, said he was OK with the policy.

"This is an attempt to try to make an issue out of nothing," he said. "All they have to do (to get a free ID) is ask for it, and it's given to them."

But the jsonline gets it, just like anyone else who's not out to suppress the vote.
But they shouldn't have to ask for it. They shouldn't have to know all the rules. The officials who are handling the IDs are the ones who should know and who should fully explain the rules to customers.

  1. Of course the Journal is not a monolith, but the paper did its level best to whip up hysteria over so-called voter fraud.

This is the same paper whose editorial department sees no reason to impeach this democracy destroying administration.
