Republicans attack "Empathy" again ripping into Streep.

Meryl Streep talked about "empathy," and got trashed by the Trumpian "we won" bullies.



As Streep summed up at the end, it's all about empathy. Which is why Meghan McCain's comments were so bizarre:

Conservative commentator Meghan McCain on Sunday criticized actress Meryl Streep's Golden Globes dig at Donald Trump, saying it shows that Hollywood doesn't understand the forces behind Trump's victory.

Having empathy will get Trump elected again? Republicans have turned empathy an epithet.

For the always scrambling Kellyanne Conway, Streep is inciting Trump voters worst instincts, like having a little empathy:

Remember the vilification of "empathy?" Republicans hated the word and made that clear a while back. Oddly, on the same day Sen. Jeff Session had his hearing on becoming the nations attorney general, I found this story from June 2009 when he attacked the idea of "empathy:"

USA Today: The top Republican on the Senate committee, Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., reviewing Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the Supreme Court said Monday that he is concerned President Obama is driving federal courts "far to the left" by choosing "activist" judges for the bench.

(Sessions) raised questions about what role a judge's background should play in deciding cases. “When he talks about wanting a judge to show empathy, that's very troubling to me."

Empathy attacked again:

(President) Obama set forth his criteria for a (Supreme Court Justice) replacement by declaring that he viewed “that quality of empathy, of understanding and identifying with people’s hopes and struggles, as an essential ingredient.” But now that conservatives have hijacked empathy and turned it into an epithet — “a code word for an activist judge,” as Senator Orrin Hatch said recently on ABC.
