State Republicans attack Milwaukee again: Oppose Locally issued ID card "to empower people to get back on their feet and contribute to society."

What, another big government Republican assault on liberal Milwaukee’s ability for elected officials to carry out the will of the people? Big surprise.

Rep. Bob Gannon made it clear the Republican attacks on Milwaukee are based on their resentment for the black populations effect on the states jobs numbers, food stamp program and poverty rate. It’s making them look bad, and they won't tolerate that. So instead of helping Milwaukee, they’re doing everything they can to hold them back and punish them. WPR
The battle is on over a proposed bill in the state Legislature that could affect a local photo ID scheduled to be issued soon in Milwaukee. Two Republican lawmakers from southeastern Wisconsin are looking for co-sponsors of a potential measure that would prohibit counties and towns from issuing photo ID cards to the public. The bill says photo ID cards from all local governments couldn't be used for voting or obtaining state benefits.

Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele said his county isn't creating the local card for voting … he supports a Milwaukee-area municipal ID plan that would make sure the homeless and undocumented immigrants have cards. "In the partnership with the city and county, we have an opportunity to empower a lot of people to get back on their feet and contribute to society."

But Republicans want to do the opposite, hurting their jobs numbers, food stamp program and poverty rate. It’s like they need a villain.

  1. At some point they need to admit they no longer trust their neighbors and do not believe in democracy or 'one person, one vote.'
