The GOP is out of step with the public, and yet still threaten to win elections.

Sure Senate Republicans will once again vote against an extension to unemployment benefits, all the while making pronouncements that they represent the people. Isn't that starting to sound crazier and crazier?

Even the argument that Republicans won’t run government based on polls doesn't explain their acceptance of the biggest poll of them all, elections. That why we call them “polling places.” Maybe that’s why they want to cut the number people going to the polls, and the amount of time they have for voting.

Public opinion doesn't mean much to them when it goes against their “values” and “principles.” Even the following poll that overwhelmingly supports Democratic Party values won’t ever convince them otherwise that they don’t reflect the majority. Washington Post:

A new CNN poll: a large majority wants government to work to “substantially” reduce income inequality-66 percent of Americans, including 66 percent of independents and 71 percent of moderates, strongly or somewhat agree with the statement that “the government should work to substantially reduce the income gap between the rich and poor.”

69 percent of Americans, and 72 percent of independents and 76 percent of moderates, “think the policies of the Republican Party generally favor the rich.” Only 23 percent of Americans, and 22 percent of independents and 20 percent of moderates, think GOP policies favor the middle class.
