Republicans accuse nonpartisan offices of partisanship...wishful thinking? Redistricting Reform a joke to them!

A Democratic bill to hand over redistricting in 2020 to the nonpartisan Legislative Reference Bureau is resulting in the most ridiculous reaction by our Republican politicians I've seen to date. It's almost comical to watch Rep. Bill "bad liar" Kramer smirk as he just makes up the most bizarre accusation against the LRB...even the Government Accountability Board.

"They're not nonpartisan lets say." 

He really said that. Kramer and his fellow Republicans got nothin', no excuses, nada. Yet Kramer thinks he got away with pulling a fast one.



On WKOW's Capitol City Sunday, Greg Neumann had Rep. Diane Hesselbein and Wisconsin Democracy Campaign's  Mike McCabe on to clearly explain why these were nonpartisan entities, and not just an illusion or lie. As for Rep. Bill Kramer, if he had his way, those offices would be partisan. Projecting much?

"In a democracy, representatives are supposed to be chosen by the voters," said Mike McCabe, Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. "And, what we've got is a situation where the representatives are choosing the voters. They're packing districts with voters who are likely to vote for them."

"Now's the time to get this on the books, to say that all of us want a non-partisan, Legislative Reference Bureau to draw the maps," concurred Rep. Diane Hesselbein (D-Middleton), a co-sponsor of the bill.
