Tea Party Wrestlers too Honest for Fox News Tea Party Talking Heads.

The fun and embarrassment of the WWE lies in their conga line of over-the-top characters fighting it out in the ring. It is now, and always has been, a reflection of societal stereotypes, caricatures of one group or another.

What's outrageously funny and unintentionally revealing is the right wings outrage over the new "tea party" wrestler who spouts nothing but the same tired old tea party cliche's. They hate it, saying it' makes a mockery of a serious movement, even though it's the same kind of bloviating we hear from Fox News guests 3 or 4 times a day. Here's a summary:
Mediaite: The WWE has entered the Tea Party mockery game with character Jack Swagger and his villainous “Real American” manager Zeb Colter, generating outcry from conservative fans of the pro-wrestling organization. Swagger and Colter were booed by the crowd as they overzealously talked about the Constitution, the scourge of illegal immigration, and “true patriotism.” Other promotional videos of the two show them talking about freeloading immigrants and welfare recipients in front of the Gadsden flag, which has become symbolic of the Tea Party movement.
You would think the following would receive high praised by anti-immigration conservatives:
Swagger is set to battle for the “World Heavyweight Championship” (or whatever it’s called) against Mexican wrestler Alberto Del Rio — clearly a play on the stereotypical tension between anti-immigration types and Mexicans.
Fox News' clueless knee jerk loudmouth Greg Gutfeld chimed in claiming WWE's caricature is no different than the one pushed by the "media"...or anybody else with ears, eyes, a brain....

Further hyping the “Tea Party” gimmick, during one match ringside commentators Michael Coleand Jerry Lawler continually referred to Colter as Swagger’s “nutjob” manager, and said that the pair had received “fan mail” from controversial conservatives like Rush LimbaughGlenn Beck, and Alex Jones.
Oops, spoke too soon?

  1. The WWE wrestler currently embroiled in an anti-Tea Party storyline has more on his plate now than simply anger from offended patriots across the nation. Breitbart reports.

"GULFPORT -- Wrestler Jack Swagger, whose legal name is Donald Jacob Hager, was arrested in Gulfport late Tuesday after he left the taping of a television show at the Coast Coliseum in Biloxi." http://www.sunherald.com/2013/02/20/4480328/wrestler-faces-dui-pot-and-speeding.html
