The Most Amazing Excuse to Deny Voting Rights.

While the press treats voter suppression like it's just more Democratic whining, Republicans are thinking of new ways to deny the right to vote.

Denying criminals the right to vote once they've paid their debt to society, is ridiculous on its surface, but watch how Republican Party of Florida's Lenny Curry tries to make his case for something so wrong. Michael Smirconish isn't buying it, and neither is Eugene Robinson.

Curry thinks there should be a waiting period, then an appearance before a board, for every former criminal to make their case as to why they should be able to vote again. That leaves a politically motivated board a lot of leeway. I'm even more curious about the criteria used to reinstate voting rights; what proof do you need to show you're "good enough" to vote again? Who would be on the board? What is a good waiting period? My head is hurting.

But this is now. What new idea's will the Republican authority come up with next? This is a great discussion and the precursor of more voter suppression to follow, especially if Republicans are trying this:
